Same. We still haven't seen an official image from the production. Like, I'd rather not be judged on photos taken of me when I wasn't paying attention, in unflattering lighting.

Sometimes I miss the days where everyone did not have a camera in their pocket and we did not get flooded with all sorts of out-of-context photos and videos that take away from the expectations you may have for whatever the project is.

It's definitely got a Forgotten Realms-y vibe to it, especially with the cravat/ascot to give it a slightly anachronistic touch. Purple and gold definitely suggests he's playing someone important and not a good guy, though the outfit also doesn't suggest any kind of warrior or wizard.

Maybe he's the kind of villains who pretend to be a good law abiding merchant that hires the adventurers and then turns out to be an over dramatic evil Necromancer or something and he'll get a full bad guy look later?

Also it's possible his vest goes way down to his ankles or something. And maybe he has a pointy hat and a wizard staff to complete the costume.

Any guesses about being a "good guy" turned bad will likely be wrong, since his casting was announced as him being the villain for the movie. He may get a redemption arc in the movie, if he is not meant to stay the main bad for a sequel, but starting good I doubt.

What's the CR bump from regular Hugh Grant to Dire Hugh Grant?

Just hoping we won't be getting a "Wonder Woman beating up an Aries who looks like he drinks afternoon tea," moment in this movie.

I think the best we can hope for is a fantasy theme Ocean's 11, which could work.

Maybe he'll turn into a dragon or some other CGI monstrosity. That's always a go-to climax in a movie and always a bad idea for the villain.

Realmsfarian D&D has a lot of time for interiors like that. It just needs more like, tacky stuff and geegaws and so on to fit traditional Realms-y looks. Some bigass new-age crystals instead of the chandelier, maybe.

The audience has to be convinced. And doing that when everyone going in knows he will be the villain makes that suspension of disbelief a lot harder. I am trying to think of any recent movies or TV shows where they actually succeeded in making the announced villain actor not seem like a villain from the first moment they appear on-screen.

That can be more likely. We know of lots of stories where someone in the main cast knows another person is evil or the big bad guy, but showing that to the general populace is impossible until the villain shows it themselves.
