1.) That is hardly a convenience considering I am relatively powerless in the grand scope of things.

I'm not part of any group which has really suffered constant prejudice (unless you count gamers, lol), however you do want to be pretty careful here IME. People of minorities which are subject to such prejudice aren't just confronted with it once in a while, it typically exists in the very fabric of their lives in every moment. Thus any process of eradicating it, or at least objecting to it, cannot simply be a matter of picking and choosing and "deciding not to get offended by this one." You're on a battlefield, and you deal with each bullet that comes your way, out of necessity. Again, not being subject to it myself I probably don't really understand completely. I've seen it, been married to a PoC and witnessed it all first hand, but I think you'd have to live it to really get why there is no choice, you don't accept it, ever. anywhere. That is the only path that will ever work. It is the only dignified way to live.

We often disagree, but this is very well put.

This is exactly why I say that someone openly being a neo-nazi or other white supremacist is a direct threat and should be dealt with the same as if that person had looked you in the face and told you they intend to physically harm your neighbors and friends.

Yes. But that doesn't exculpate parts of the 4e crowd from being just as wrong and toxic as parts of the pre-4e crowd

Racist images such as we saw earlier in the thread is one thing.

However, being offended because someone says a D&D edition is a video game, that's the sort of thing you can choose not to be offended by.

If you expand gatekeeping to to include using words that don't actually limit anyone, gatekeeping becomes too broad to really mean anything.

The Urban Dictionary definition gives the same definition I do, so that indicates that it's become a fairly common definition.

Sorry, but both sides are not equally toxic. “Both sides” talk tends to mask the where most of the toxicity was coming from.
