I'm going to post an action for Phar, and then it will be Caerth's turn.

Aureus will take a 5 ft. step back on her turn and fire her bow, depending on whether or not Caerth manages to pacify the vermin creature. Remember, this is not an animal. It does not have an Int. score.

EDIT: Handle Animal (and Wild Empathy) are supposed to only work on non-animals (such as magical beasts) if they have an Int score of 1 or 2. Plus the DC increases by 5 for Handle Animal (Wild Empathy is at -4).

For a vermin, trying to use Handle Animal is an epic ability that requires DCs of 35 to rear a vermin or 50 to train one. I don't think there is an option for using Wild Empathy against one without some sort of special ability. I'll doublecheck the RC.
