I love the special thanks.

This project was made possible by Roll20. Thank you for unlocking new horizons for the latest generation of planewalkers, bashers, berks, and touts. We’d also like to thank the giants on whose shoulders we stand when writing this book: Justice Ramin Arman, Richard Baker, Wolfgang Baur, David “Zeb” Cook, Bruce R. Cordell, Jeff Grubb, David Noonan, F. Wesley Schneider, Rick Swan, and all others who helped create and cultivate Planescape and the planes.

I've just bought it and am reading it now.

Here is the table of contents.

From what I gather, it's the old planar influence on alignment/behavior that is being cautioned against?

Is that the extent of what is being seen as potentially an issue?
From my work with the sensitivity reader, it was more about triggers related to mental health and associated experiences (temporary alignment changes caused by visits to certain planes are in there, but not frequent), death being a fundamental element of traipsing about the afterlife... if you have any specific concerns that you don't feel comfortable with publicizing, send me a PM and I'd be happy to go through them with you to see if the product is appropriate or if it might not suit you.

I did mean slip case, I did clarify, and it's not terribly important, it's just really weird to replace sepia and sickly green with jewel tones, like putting rainbows all over Dark Sun.
No, I don't think those analogies apply. Dark Sun is very focused in tone and flavor. Planescape deals with the planes, which are all over the place in theme / feel. If the original boxed washed that in sepia colors it did a disservice to the idea of the planes IMO.

Planescape, especially Sigil, is punk-themed, so while I agree the jewel tones could make sense for the nicer parts of the Outlands etc., Sigil itself is originally explicitly dingy and foreboding, reflecting the Lady herself.

Hopefully the 3P stuff finds a good middle ground that satisfies us both!

OK, I just looked through the book and the art for Sigil is still pretty punk-themed and not be-jeweled or whatever IMO. Almost all of the photos have a smog like haze and many are straight up dark. Now there is a map that is brightly colored and a place called the Elloweth Theater that is brighter, but not close to jewel tones. So I guess, I don't know what your seeing. It is not sepia, but it is not happy bright colors either.
