I think the directors at one point talked about the first D&D movie being a one-off and that any sequels would focus on a different cast of characters. That being said, the core cast of the first movie were pretty great together, and it'd be a shame to not have more of them.

I mean Beetlejuice 2 is coming out next September, so we know people will make a sequel out of anything.

As an aside, this fills me with no small dread. The Tim Burton of today is not the same Tim Burton that made the first movie.

Also true, but when was the last Tim Burton movie that didn't feel like a shadow of his past work (2014's Big Eyes, in my opinion)?

Some movies are like that, or the reverse. For example, when I saw Avatar in the theater, I really liked it. The more time went by, I liked it less and less. I didn't really like District 9 in the theater, but liked it more and more as time went on.
