  • No, but I'd refluff the stats and allow those as another race

I wouldnt allow kenders, as nobody would trust them and they wouldve been hunted and tortured to death. I would refluff everything or something along those lines, if a player wanted to play something of that stature.

I'd never run a Dragonlance game so for me its a moot point. None of my players have ever read those books so they have no idea of the existence of the race thankfully.

I really fail to understand how Kender aren't just a renamed halfling. Allowing one is like allowing the other.

That said, when someone asks "can I play a kender," most people assume it means that they want to play a Tasslehoff clone. This is little different than all the gripes about Drizzt clones with their overly tragic stories.

I'm just wondering. For me allowing something so incredibly tied to a particular setting to be played outside of it just jarring and not appealing at all (as DM or a player at the table of a DM doing so). I'm getting the impression that some others feel differently, so I want to see where most are at.

I may allow kender in a non-Dragonlance game, but that doesn't mean I would allow kender in any non-Dragonlance game.

Halflings aren't inherent kleptos with immunity to fear and all that stuff. Plus there are no kender in Greyhawk or FR so I'm safe!

My hat of kender know no limit.

What, really? No one's going to...?

Okay, then.

Flexor, you are /never/ safe from kender. WE ARE EVERYWHERE.

(even on your hat)

Klepto is just a way of playing a character. I can do that now. The immunity to fear thing is just taken from Frodo and company, which halflings share.

They're just halflings with the thief and "cuteness" aspects dialed up to 11. Its the same thing.
