Regarding Beast Heart Adept:
  • there is no mention of the replacement mechanics - it's not like I can just pop off to wilderness and capture dungeonbred pegasus (or even normal blink dog)
  • monsters offered on the list are fixed, would you consider 'opportunity companions' - if it happens that we meet a monster that fits the size/general HD and somehow we capture it or Rockhorn does some monster diplomacy - could we adapt that instead of buying/finding monsters from the list?
Okay, I thought you decided that your going to stick with Spritewing and not worry about a replacement for now? Or are you just thinking ahead?

If Rockhorn encounters an interesting option that isn't to out there, then, yes, we can consider it.

@MetaVoid: From the Rules Compendium...
Nonhumanoid Creatures
Creatures that lack any clear shape have no body slots and can’t wear magic items at all.
Armless Creatures: Creatures that have no forelimbs don’t have the arms, hands, or rings body slot—but see Multilegged Creatures, below. A creature that has only a single forelimb retains these body slots and can wear both items of a pair on the same limb.
Fingerless Creatures: Creatures that lack flexible digits or extremities lack the rings body slot. A creature need not be able to manipulate objects to wear rings.
Headless Creatures: Creatures that do not have an identifiable head lack the face, head, and throat body slots.
Legless Creatures: Creatures that have no hind limbs don’t have the feet body slot.
Multilegged Creatures: Creatures that have more than two legs can treat their foremost pair of limbs as their arms, allowing them access to the arms, hands, and rings body slots, even if those limbs are used for locomotion rather than for manipulation. Creatures that have arms as well as multiple legs lack no body slots.
Hmm, it seems I might be wrong about whether or not Spritewing could use magical bracelets and/or bracers. I can't see how Spritewing should be allowed to wear rings on its hooves, however. That just seems illogical. Instead, he can wear them as an earrings and I'll reduce the modification cost to 1/25th of the items market price.

So, if Rockhorn wanted to have one of the rings of protection +1 modified for Spritewing, it would cost him 500 gp and he'd have to have the ring modified by a character with the Forge Ring feat. The new earring of protection +1 could never be re-forged into a normal magical ring ever again.

@Aust Thale and I have been discussing an optional rule for converting gold into XP...

If a character is close to leveling up, he/she can choose to spend gold 3:1 to earn the XP needed to reach the next level. To use this new option, the PC must be within 5,000 XP of the next level. Also, you can only earn additional XP this way up to a max of 25,000 XP.

Thoughts?

Earning XP that way would require the PC to devote some time -in-game to find someone to give them some extra training. Or the character must spend time meditating or preaching or training the local guards. That sort of thing. Something that wouldn't take weeks, however.

I like it. It's always just a little frustrating to be <300xp away.

"I need xp, let's find a swan to kill!"
"OH GOD, NOT A SWAN!"
"Don't worry, this isn't 1e"
"Oh phew"

The training makes sense because it also explains where all your money went: to the person who trained you and not the XP gods.

Double post: Can you use this method to use gold instead of xp to create magic items?

Like a potion is xp=1/25th of the cost. Can I just pay that xp cost by paying the 3:1 gold?
(just making sure you see loopholes)

Okay, so the first treasure list is a concern for @Aust Thale. He's not sure what he should have and what he shouldn't for Falen. The issue is the value of the two daggers allocated to him in @Neurotic's original list, which is what I based the treasure list on.

Here's what I mean...
Share Breakdown for Pre-Crossed Candles Treasure.png

Now, this share breakdown doesn't take into account the gold value of the coins, but it does take into account the gems. As well, I've divided by five the values of the items given away to the Regulars (with the best items going to Herleva's team) or given to Custodio, and I've subtracted those numbers to arrive at the Remaining Share values. The unallocated amount is for the items the PCs are going to sell, for sure.

I'm going to finish the diamond's story tonight!

Regardless, Falen has way too much with both magical daggers allocated to him. Aust Thale didn't even use the +2 dancing dagger (50,611 gp, 4 sp sell value). And, he's not 'feeling it' for the +3 humanbane dagger of venom (48,151 gp sell value). While it is useful against the human bad guys, I don't think Falen feels it is an appropriate weapon for him. I'll let Aust Thale say more if he so chooses.

Without those two items, his share changes to 783 gp. He also has the set of eight skeleton keys, but there isn't a value attached to those keys, yet. It's going to take some legwork to find out where Mani got them and what he was using them for. A trip to a local locksmith during downtime might help with that mystery.

I have not included the values for the two cloaks of resistance (one +1 and one +2) in the shares because I still don't know which PCs got those two cloaks. Falen was allocated one of the +1s, but, somewhere along the way, there was confusion about how many of each were captured. I don't know if it was my confusion, or not. There were two +1s and one +2.

The total value of coins was 6,035 gp, 6 sp, and 3 cp. most of that was the stipend given to the PCs by Lady Pomander. That was 500 pp.
