@doghead for gaps starting equipment for a ranger can be found in page 48 of the PHB and continued on to page 49, you can also opt to do starting gold average and purchase gear you would like. For background you do not know of any elves in Grey Camp, most live in their own communities and do not speak common.
@TaranTheWanderer Baron Drogo Greywarden is his actually name, the baronies are named after the households name except for the the Goldenscale duchy.

Equipment: I don't have access to PHB, just the SRD. If you can give me the starting gold average, I can take it from there.
Elves: Cheers. I will give some thought to reworking the backstory to reflect the information so far. It won't be significantly different, mostly just addressing his origins.

Apologies for any formatting issues. Monospace font is doing some weird stuff. As far as I can tell, it is only recognising multiple spaces as a single space.
Back Story is in a Spoiler. I will leave it up to @Neurotic and @TaranTheWanderer to decide whether they want to read it (a pitch in ideas if they feel like), or not, and discover through play. I am easy either way.
