    Woohoo! More boardgames!

Uh, I'm assuming that at present there's no, err, girlfriend in your life? I mean, I'm not trying to be snarky or anything, but, umm, there's more to life than, you know, playing games, dude.

Which ENWorlder Would You Want to Meet?

Say Bio, didn't you just post in the other thread that you're thinking of quitting RPGing???

Which ENWorlder Would You Want to Meet?

Vancouver, B.C.! What about yourself, Johnnie boy? I'm open to getting together with Chainsaw and Bio if they're able to. I seem to remember that Chainsaw lives in B.C. too . . .

This product could save your life! (or not)

Yawn. Way too much effort, and no real laughs. Advice to anyone who tries to be funny: if you can't do it in a paragraph or so, don't bother typing out some huge, dull, unfunny webpage.

    Metalheads! Confess & Brag

...scream, scream, puke, scream... a few more screams, then a fart... ...and then some more screaming Sodomize the dead! Piledriver, "Sodomize the Dead" (1985) [Sob, sniff] More beauty than a Petrarchan sonnet . . . :o

You're the Independence Day aliens. What cities do you blow up?

Seconded! Reminds me of when I saw Independence Day in Montreal. They showed the wreckage of the Statue of Liberty, White House, etc. People in the theater were laughing and cheering (me included). Afterwards, one of my buddies said, "Hey, I think those scenes were supposed to be all serious...

The Paladin killed someone...what to do?

And if they do, they are *wrong*. You see, Arravis, the Holocaust was, like, a *bad* thing. Oh, never mind. If I actually have to try to convince you that the Holocaust was an evil thing, then you're probably beyond reason. Bye.

The Paladin killed someone...what to do?

Every alignment thread ends up the same way. At some point, someone always makes a statement like the above, essentially saying, "There is no such thing as good and evil." Hear that, kids? The Holocaust, child pornography, slavery, and serial rape aren't good or evil, because, well, real life...

    D&D 4E UPDATE on 4e

I'd agree, to a point. Although the term "troll" is, I think, more properly used in cases where someone posts, "3.5 SUXXORS1! And SO you all oF you!1" Cowpie Zombie's posts were, in my opinion, quite obviously bogus. The irony is that so many people seriously debated the "rumor". Which I...

    Would YOU play AD&D 2e?

Some context: some friends of mine and I on this group and RPGnet are thinking of starting up a big, epic-scale AD&D 2e campaign. We want to recruit some players at our local university and FLGS. The question we started discussing was how easy or difficult this might prove to be. As an informal...

DMs: do you make your players draw their own maps?

Diaglo isn't brutal; he's old school, baby! ;) Why, back when we played AD&D in the early 80's, we all did our own mapping. Not to mention half the times we mapped wrong and it gave the DM a chance to screw with us. But you kids today, you want everything handed to you on a shiny platter...

    Gamer Significant Others

Diaglo, I fear that your allusion will be lost on some of the youngsters here. Just so there's no confusion, let's all be clear, folks. THIS is what gaming is about:

Philosophical question: Do games become "obsolete"?

But there's a difference: by objective, scientific, mathematical standards your Dell *is* in fact superior to the old TI-99. It has a faster CPU, higher resolution, blah blah blah. No one would debate its superiority. But in the 1e vs. 3e question (or any "old vs. new game" question) there...

Philosophical question: Do games become "obsolete"?

I see what you're saying, but once again, it seems more like a value judgement. You go over to dragonsfoot and you'll find scores of die-hard 1e'ers who swear up and down that "the game is better without a skill system." Not saying they're right (or wrong), just saying that what constitutes a...

Philosophical question: Do games become "obsolete"?

Took this from a thread at RPGnet: The sad fact is that for some people, it *does* make a difference. There's a whole group of gamers who are obsessed with having the KEWL NEW GAME1! and who immediately describe the out-of-print game as "obsolete", as if it were an 8-track tape player or...

Some interesting news about 4th edition

Why? Personally, I think it's a fantastic idea, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they implement it. The 800 lb. gorilla of the CCG business and the 800 lb. gorilla of the RPG business . . . combined, should be a stellar product. I'm interested in seeing if the M:tG integration makes it...

    Strategy or role-playing game?

Oh, don't be so grumpy. Besides, I was actually making two meaningful points in my posts: 1. Personality mechanics such as Bluff and Diplomacy don't necessarily lead to more role-playing. Often they become another attack roll. 2. 3e has far more rules than 1e. Sheesh, some people...

    Strategy or role-playing game?

Dude, if you think 3e has *fewer* rules than 1e, then you need to crack open your 1e books again. I like 3e as much as the next enworlder, but it has about 1,000,000 rules. WAY more than 1e or 2e ever did.
