Legend
The wizard is almost exclusively breadth over depth
No they get both in 5e, because:

1) The wizard can cast the same spells over and over again if they want.
2) Their spell DC is the same regardless of which spell.

So a wizard can focus on the exact spells to beat a specific encounter, and cast them as much as slots will allow. and then they ALSO have the breadth to do a ritual or something for a niche situation if they need to. Its the best of both worlds.

Legend
Fighters can push 20'. Just hit twice.
Push 40' at higher levels, 80' with action surge.

Or you can prone, cleave, slow, push all in one turn.

More attacks -> more options.
Pushing people that far isn't that useful if you have to walk 10 feet to follow them in between hits.

Presumably with a bow, or else the target is outside melee range after the first hit. It won't always be convenient or even possible to move after them for melee attacks. Although the image of driving someone back across the room with a series of strikes is very cinematic it's not obviously a great idea if you're fighting more than one enemy.

Monks should be able to do it bare handed! That'd be even cooler to see a Monk follow and push a guy across the field with Flurry of Blows.
