(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

If I'm understanding your question, then yes --
"You can make an Opportunity Attack when a creature that you can see leaves your reach." (p. 26).

So you can move as much as you like, as long as you stay within reach of the enemy (literally running circles around it, if you wish). However doing so may put you into/out of reach of someone else, which could provoke an attack.
Oh, that changes things. I’ll modify my ic post. Attack still misses, but I’m sticking with the pike, and will reposition Aywin so next round if he hits he can push the merc.

I thought you could only take a 5 ft move when within reach of an opponent to avoid an aoc.
Thanks!

Team Infiltrate - I don't know if you want to try to take advantage of the confusion to jump them or not, it would still be a damn big fight. Theoretically, you could also steal from the pot, or the guy's winnings, which will probably be split up as the game has been ruined.

Yeah, so, uh... THAT happened.

For a moment there, I thought that it would wind up the very first encounter inside the dungeon, which is WILD, but delays on my end (organizing the map) made Team Lake run into some mercs first. Again, I'm going to play it fast-and-loose time-wise, but this event it still a little in everyone else's future, which is another reason why I delayed posting it for a bit.

Good luck! (I feel for those poor, poor kobolds).

Huh. I literally just walked in and checked the threads.....

So ... if I'm reading things correctly, our little band of low-level characters has a dracolich right nearby?

First thought- do dracoliches like dancing? Music, perhaps?

....I'm guessing that's a no.

Second thought- I have no second thoughts. Wait ... actually, I have a lot of second thoughts, but it's too late for those.

@TaranTheWanderer @MetaVoid @Kobold Stew

Y'all got some good ideas for fighting a dracolich? I've have two half-backed ones.

-I haven't used my smites / channel divinity. I've got a nifty way to get the Dracolich grappled and smited, so I can attack first. But the 5e24 rules change means that ... ugh, bonus action conflict, I can only get off one smite a round (smite is a bonus action now) and each time I do I don't get a third attack (because that's also a bonus action).
-I also recommend simultaneously doing something to make sure that the Kobolds know that this isn't their dragon, it's the corrupted blah blah blah from the Betrayers. Just so we aren't fighting on multiple fronts.

LMK if you y'all get a clever plan before I commit to the attack. Or even a non-clever plan. I'm open to plans that involve us maybe not dying.

So I'm going to be more specific- it might drop one, or all of us, but I think if we do this together, we might be able to take the Dracolich out.

I would suggest (unless someone has another suggestion) letting me attack first. Now, unless Shamal rolls horribly (which is possible), then I can use smite+Dao's crush on one of the blows. The damage won't be major, BUT it puts the Dracolich in restrained condition (no save). That means that (inter alia) all of its attacks against us are at disadvantage, and all our subsequent attacks (all of y'all) against it are advantage, UNTIL it takes its action to break it (with save). Which would use up its action next round.*

Or maybe it has some legendary action. But it's a plan!

*And I can blow through two of them, so I can repeat the process, assuming Dracolich hasn't dropped me.

I'm not saying it's a good plan, but it's something?

I am strongly suggesting flight, but if we stay, Urgan and/or his illusory self is with you to the end. Which will be in 12 or 18 seconds.

Who has the statue at this point in time?

My first attack can be quite strong, assuming it doesn't resist Psychic damage

Lets say I hit with everything: 1d6 sword + 1d6 hunter mark + 2d6 ambush strike average 14+3 ability

Second attack would be just 10 more unless I crit on any...so 27 total...1/6th of needed damage...so...two rounds survival target.

Watch for the breath and let's hope ot retreat to plan for usnif we Hurt it

I await the advantage, go, @Snarf Zagyg

I’m still am convinced the Dracolich is fake but I haven’t read IC yet. Currently golfing.

The goal is to get the statues and the staff and not fight the dracolich. Let’s see if we can focus on that
