Team Infiltrate - I don't know if you want to try to take advantage of the confusion to jump them or not, it would still be a damn big fight. Theoretically, you could also steal from the pot, or the guy's winnings, which will probably be split up as the game has been ruined.
I'm pretty sure the plan was to take advantage of the confusion to steal the keys from Rowlow and/or free the imprisoned elf.

I will try to create a distraction, but now that one of them is out of commission, we could try a surprise attack? Maybe?

Copper is close to fanatics, both he and Terrin can attack Rowlow suddenly, maybe even Saphirrion too; if we can drop him others might surrender? Probably won't, fanatics and all...but still, surprise plus a bit of luck with initiative...

I think we should at least try to open the cage holding the drow first? Hopefully, he's an ally! 😂

Yeah. You have the keys. Maybe you want to get one of the mercs alone and take them out that way? Or send one of the guys off to do some errand to lower their numbers by one more before you attack.

Both Initiative and Surprise, here in my PBP games work a combination of "PCs (generally) post first)" and "Roleplay/take actions appropriate to Surprise".

Sometimes that makes it work better for the players than typical D&D surprise (especially when the monsters take a round (or sometimes two) to really get organized, and sometimes it works worse (in that an NPC who is attacked in melee and has weapons on hand, can generally draw them and defend themselves, at least by the end of the round.

In other words, I think you're pretty good for surprise. There is quite a bit of general confusion. That said, Rowlow is keeping one eye on Terrin (and the other merc is probably keeping both eyes on him).

@FitzTheRuke, how long is the stairway between the prison and the temple entrance room above. Is it far enough that sounds of a quick scuffle wouldn't travel to either room from mid-way?

This is a smart question. Siobhan (the only guard currently in the Temple Entrance) is standing only about 80ft from the card table, though it is out of her sight. The stairs are only 30ft long, very wide, and totally open to the room above. I think that she'd clearly hear the sound of a fight in the prison. And yeah, everyone near the card table can see pretty much all the way up the stairs, far or less hear it.

On the other hand, the hallway up to the main gatehouse is long and switches back-and-forth three times. Once you are past the "grinder", no one can hear you from either end. Of course, someone would have to shut the grinder off, which isn't something everyone knows how to do. Siobhan does, and I suspect that Getan would ask her to do it for the two of you if you're "heading up to the gatehouse to get Brogh".
