Fair; but we could also offer to pay them to keep them alive. I honestly don't see an alternative where Valendra lives, given all that's going on. Is she carrying her spellbook, by chance?
No, the book she is carrying has her notes (in an obscure short-hand) on her recent discoveries. Her spellbook is in her foot-locker.Fair; but we could also offer to pay them to keep them alive. Meanwhile, in the caves....
I propose we let the Merc go (the way we came in), or he can be tied up, bound and gagged, like Valendra will be and left with the kobolds. Either way, I think we have the information we need to proceed. Is that right?
Urgan (and others) would likely, by now, have the impression that the Kobolds will likely murder them, or even more likely, throw them to a large beetle in their "battle pit" and watch them fight it. (Probably after maiming them somehow to make the fight more "fair" - for the beetle.

There's one alive. You missed the part where the Kobolds trampled the unconscious one to death. On purpose.(there's two mercenaries: one is unconscious - the 3rd - the houndsman - is dead.)
Beast Boys. Also known as "The Beast's Boys".Instead of letting the mercenaries go could we pay them to escort Valendra out? Edit: except she could probably offer them more so that's not a good call. And she might think betraying us will get her spellbook back.
@FitzTheRuke what was the name of the mercenary group?
Close, I guess!I called them the bears but I think that's wrong
I did miss thatThere's one alive. You missed the part where the Kobolds trampled the unconscious one to death. On purpose.
These mercenaries are with the Beast Boys? I thought they were Valendra’s personal mercenaries. That changes a lot. Merrick doesn’t have a lot of sympathy for the Beast Boys - from how you described them as being mostly criminals.Beast Boys. Also known as "The Beast's Boys".
Bardaby Coombs (their leader) is known as "The Beast". And they are terrified of him. You can't pay them enough to betray their commander, as long as he is alive. Some of them would be happy to see him dead, though!
I’ll edit the nameClose, I guess!
Okay, I also didn’t know the base camp was super secret.Valendra can't learn anything for the Arcane Brotherhood if she's dead. The biggest problem with sending her to the Basecamp at Greenpeak is (aside from the logistics of her finding her way there) is the danger of acknowledging that the Basecamp even exists.
The Beast has that name because he's a terrible person with a terrible reputation, even among other mercenary companies. Yes, a lot of his recruits are made up of ruffians and criminals.I did miss that

Well, my last post, which I took down, I felt was pretty fair - but I also didn't know the Kobolds would murder them all.The Beast has that name because he's a terrible person with a terrible reputation, even among other mercenary companies. Yes, a lot of his recruits are made up of ruffians and criminals.
However, they also bully hapless folk into joining under duress. I wouldn't paint them all with the same brush, if I were you.
OTOH, I don't tend to judge player actions morally (well, I do, but only in my head).
My point is, I don't think that your characters have the moral or legal right to execute your prisoners.
But if you DO, given where you are, I don't think that you will find any consequences.
IDK if I'd call them allies. Guldred was, but he has his hands full just trying to reintegrate into his tribe.Well, my last post, which I took down, I felt was pretty fair - but I also didn't know the Kobolds would murder them all.
Merrick's profession is a Mercenary (when he's not being swept away to throw wrenches into the Dragon Cult's plans), so he doesn't really want to start murdering mercenaries. But I'm not sure how to keep them from betraying us.
The lizard folk would be better candidates to watch prisoners. Which reminds me, sending lets the receivers send a message back. At this point, we'd know the lizardfolk are allies???
Wait - what long rest? Do you mean short rest? Or have I forgotten something? We sent that message an hour ago (which lines up to the point just before we did this long rest.
I appreciate you trying to line stuff up. Remember, though that we don't have to make the time-stamps line up perfectly. But yeah, the groups can communicate where they are at.So we'd have that knowledge, no?
You could try that, I guess. Do you know how to use the teleporter? Here's what I propose: we use the teleporter to go to the lake, drop the prisoners off at the lizard camp then continue on. That will happen about 10 minutes AFTER they are done dealing with the hydra.
Well, I guess we have mutual enemiesIDK if I'd call them allies. Guldred was, but he has his hands full just trying to reintegrate into his tribe.
Oh yes, short restWait - what long rest? Do you mean short rest? Or have I forgotten something?

I was going to ask ValendraYou could try that, I guess. Do you know how to use the teleporter?
