Team Infiltrate - I love the ox stampede idea, but it seems to me that it would probably take longer to get them into a good position than you have, and you'd have to leave the portcullis open. It might work out, but it's a dangerous gamble. OTOH, I can see how it could be easily worked on later, after the portcullis is down, so that IF they manage to repair/lift/break through to get at you, you could send the oxen at them then. That might be the best of both worlds, if it works out.

Yes, an ox-stampede would add some chaos to the situation if it can even be accomplished at all, but I think chaos is kind of Copper's thing maybe, so I've been trying to leave it up to @Leatherhead. Also, given what @FitzTheRuke has posted, getting the oxen to cooperate will probably take more time than we have right now, so I think getting the portcullis shut should be our top priority right now and will get a post up later today to get Terrin out of the way of whatever ends up happening. Eventually the DM is going to start taking turns for our opponents, so time is of the essence, as they say.

Just putting this here because you may have missed it. My goal was to get a bit more info out of the kobold.

Maybe give me a couple of sentences here on what you have in mind, because I honestly can't think of what you're getting at. You indicated the wrong way and she told you (and Urgan) "No, up there."

If you're trying to get her to describe the whole purpose of the place, she simply doesn't know.

2. I think I may not get any more info than Urgan asked for. Merrick isn’t a super charismatic guy.

My approach IC is what I used to interview people in order to get them to tell me things about their company. And sometimes I had to use roundabout ways to get certain information. (Like their budget on software or my competitor’s quote on said software)

In my experience, If you tell someone something they know is wrong, they are happy to correct you because it makes them feel smart - sometimes without realizing they told you something they shouldn’t.

I guess I was hoping she’d elaborate on what is dangerous to give us a clue of what might be there. But maybe that tactic requires a roll. Or, probably easier to ask a follow-up question.

1. How long are we needing to rest?

I think a Short Rest is reasonable. A Long Rest probably not so much. They may be working those kobolds hard, but the humans involved are not going to stay up there all night. (It's about 4:30pm, 5:30pm after a short rest).

2. I think I may not get any more info than Urgan asked for. Merrick isn’t a super charismatic guy.

I'm not so much worried about charisma in this case - you're not trying to convince her to tell you things that she's unwilling to divulge. It's more a matter of asking of her to answer things that she doesn't know.
