Kaeysari's touch on his is transmuted in Tarkus' mind to the touch of the Goddess. Her words echo in his ear: "I never abandoned you. You abandoned me." Yes! Suddenly he understands!

He had made it all about the battle, and lost track of the goal! He had understood, intellectually, why Juna placed her curse on him: he had done too much violence in her name, and needed to learn to avoid it. But he never truly understood, deep down, why this should be. Was he not a good judge? Did he not do violence only on those who deserved it?

Now at last he realizes that he is not. His first thought when enveloped by this darkness was to strike out at it - but how does he know that it deserves this attack? Merely because he feels threatened? How can he be sure he is doing the right thing, when fighting is his first and best recourse to any unexpected situation?

Juna has not abandoned him, he realizes now. She is still with him, but she will not aid his arm unless his cause is righteous. He had thought himself a weapon in Her hands, but She wants more from him - She wants him to understand before he strikes.

Trembling, he opens his mind to the foe.

Become one with the darkness.

invisiblecastle isn't responding, so I guess I'll need to use the board's roller.

Such interesting secrets this darkness holds. Everything Phoenix has ever learned...

"Are you listening?"
Phoenix says in a whisper, though no one is sure exactly who she's talking to. "All of it... all different... is our whole history, everything we believe to be true - is it all a lie?"

Her eyes glowing, Phoenix walks off a ways into the darkness, listening intently.

Papolstaanas sees the flash of Cyr's lightning and runs joyfully towards it, thinking that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that he can finally relax. But when he reaches the spot he was looking at, there is nothing, and his brief lapse brings the visions back. Still resisting, he tries to make himself smaller, but he cannot physically hide from the darkness. He realizes that it is his mind that has to be smaller, so small that the darkness cannot reach inside. He imagines that his mind is a balloon, getting smaller and smaller as he lets his thoughts escape, until it has no interior at all.

Cyr hears his companions scatter and tries to hold them all within his perceptions while at the same time trying to discern anything his lightning might have revealed in a flash. He tunes out the darkness pressing on his senses and uses his divine ancestry to discern each and every one of his companions in suffocating darkess.

"Don't get lost in the dark! Alone we are easy pickings! Strenght in numbers, friends and trusted companions are our strength!"

Perception (1d20+13-2=31) Nat 20! Woot! Eat your heart out Damen, you're like under Faery Fire to Cyr :D

[sblock=ooc]r1 did my last attempt to Intimidate the darkness work? I was missed in the description of things going down. Just need to know for my next post.[/sblock]

*Kauldron continues to puff upon his cigar. The glow of the cherry upon his cigar brightening and dimming within the darkness. He idly listens and watches to see what the darkness would do next. Would it reseed away from him or would it willingly kill itself via consuming the light. He stared off against the darkness in a battle of wills.*

The party emerges from the Darkness relatively unscathed, but the being left it's mark on them and the heroes are changed somehow...

As you adjust your eyes to the sudden brightness of Phoenix's Light spell fills the area you hear movement ahead of you and realize you're in an underground cavern. At the edge of the mage's spell you see a pool of water and hear echoing of what seems like many creatures ahead.
