A question for the Aussies

So, my wife and I went to Outback Steakhouse tonight. My wife says it's comfort food for me. I do really like it.

But I noticed the big Australian flag near the back of the restaurant, and couldn't help but wonder - do they actually have any Outback Steakhouses in Australia? Have Australians ever even heard of an Outback Steakhouse?

And how do Australians cook their steak? And do they eat "Blooming Onions"? So many questions.

Never heard of them before now.

A quick google shows they have two stores in Sydney but most are o/s.

Blooming Onions - never heard of them.

Cooking Steak - usually grilled or bbq. I like mine medium.

Steak has dropped in use over the years as the multicultural food revolution continues . And our best steak is exported to Japan!

And roo? You'd think with all those giant marsupial rats bouncing around Australia there'd be more of it at the take-away.

What do you get when you cross an elephant with a kangaroo?

[aussie]Haven't the foggiest, mate, but when it goes boundin' about it leaves these great big holes all over Australia.[/aussie]

On the steaks, are any special seasonings used? Steak sauce? Plain?

I'm an American so I can's speak for Australians, but Salt and Pepper are really all the seasonings a good peice of meat needs.

That said, I do a great many things with steak. Salt and Pepper, McCormicks Montreal Steak Seasoning mixed with brown sugar, garlic, and onion powder mixed with salt and pepper, I also mix up a seasoning with cayenne, paprika, thyme, salt, pepper and a bunch of other stuff that goes on a lot of things including steaks.

Edit: Someday I will learn to type and the world will end.

Oh man, they're so good. You gotta try it.

I don't know why one would think they're an Australian thing, though. To my knowledge, Chili's is more famous for them.

I don't think I've ever heard of them at Chilis... that's where baby back ribs live.
