Adventure: Lord Byron’s Economic Woes (DM: Tenchuu, Judge: H.M.Gimlord)

Hergunna sees Wil's arrow strike the kobold in front of her, but it remains standing. If he goes down, she thinks, I'd have a little more room to maneuver. She looks back towards the house.

"Tessa!" she shouts. "Take out the trash in front of me!"

[sblock=OOC]Yeah, it'd be nice if Tessa could take out the skirmisher at F7, Hergunna would have a slightly easier time, particularly if she doesn't have to worry about him flanking her for extra damage next round... Cloud of Daggers could do it.

F8 - Hergunna still has hunter's quarry on him, so I'm hoping to be able to take him out with the wolf's first attack. Not guaranteed though. Maybe it will do more than 1 extra damage this time. :mad:

Tessa still has those 2 action points burning a hole in her pocket too. A second wind would be good for her at some point, but I guess they aren't threatening her now. Maybe save it for when she has to run over for a Heal check on Hergunna. ;)

I don't know about Stanng. Maybe he'll be back? He also could really use a second wind but it might be better to try to wipe out one of the wounded kobolds...[/sblock]

Tessa nodded, "Right." The wizard thrust her hand toward the skirmisher, summoning a swam of daggers around it. The blades cut the kobold all over, drenching the lizard and the ground in blood. It swatted, and looked near death, but still stood with weapon in hand.

[sblock=mechanics]
Tessa
Standard: Cloud of Daggers on F7
Attack: 1D20 + 4 => 21 Hit
Damage: 1D6 + 4 => 5
[/sblock][sblock=OOC]So, a bit of a complication. Hergunna has to avoid an OA, because the cloud of daggers will kill F7 when he turn begins, but it's still alive (1 HP!) now. [/sblock]
[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]Sheesh, what's with all these min damage rolls? :D

If he went down Hergunna could've pinned one of the kobolds between her and the wolf... but that's still helpful, Hergunna won't have to worry about that guy attacking her during their next turn.[/sblock]

The wounded druid flinches involuntarily as the daggers suddenly buzzed close to her. Drops of the hapless kobold's blood spray her. The creature is clearly on its last legs, but still dangerous, so she scrambles back a few steps.

"All right..." Hergunna mutters. "Now how did I end up here all by myself?" She takes a deep breath. The odor of blood - the kobold's mixed with her own - fills her nostrils. She suddenly grins at the enemies before her.

"I've got you right where I want you!" she says loudly.

She closes her eyes, concentrating on the odors of blood and fear, the distant sounds of Kane and Stanng roaring with rage, her own racing heart... she pictures the mountains, their forested snow-covered slopes... she reaches down deep, touching the primal predator inside her spirit... she pictures the wolf, leaping down from a moonlight boulder, its jaws wide and snapping... she finds her bond to the pack and gives a little tug...

And then in instant, without sound or fury, the wolf is just there. Bigger than her alternate form by a hand and a half and fifty pounds, its teeth glistening with saliva, it snaps at a very surprised kobold, narrowly missing the reptile's throat. More blood covers the ground as the kobold takes another wound, but through some dark miracle, it remains on its feet.

Hergunna rocks forward, feeling empty after the summoning. With an effort of will she shifts to wolf-shape herself, catching herself on forepaws and preventing an undignified faceplant.

The pack wolf's sudden howl reverberates between the buildings.

[sblock=Actions]Move: Shift to G5
Standard: Summon Wolf at E7. As part of the power, the wolf attacks the slinger at F8. 1d20 + 4 => 10 hits thanks to -4 defense (whew) for 2d6+4 => 8 damage, leaving the slinger with 2hp.

As a free action Hergunna uses her half-orc racial power Furious Assault, her Gloves of the Shadowfell, the daily power of her Flaming Greatsword +5, and casts Meteor Strike for an additional 1,000,000 points of damage on the kobold, finally killing it. Don't I wish.

[sblock=Tessa's AP]So... should I use her AP now or not?

Ryry informed my that my previous idea of using her other daily is illegal (sorry, no expert on wizards here...). I could have her use another cloud of daggers, and kill one of the 2 HP ers, or I could have her move up and use thunderwave. It doesn't do enough damage to kill the wolf, but would kill one (maybe two) of the slingers. It would put her in danger though. Could do either with the southern skirmishers too.

[sblock=Tessa's AP]I wasn't kidding about Tessa maybe needing to use an AP to get to Hergunna for a Heal check after she goes down. I wish I was, but I wasn't. :) She might not need the AP to do this, but if she has to get that close, I'd use it for the Second Wind for both the heal and the defense.

I think the main question is whether she should move up or not. Thunderwave might be really effective, but Hergunna could try to help set it up better for her using Chill Wind. The problem is that the slingers might move too far away for Tessa to get there with a single move. But if she moves up she'll be further exposed.

I think I lean towards her moving up slightly, though not too close, just enough that she'll have flexibility to get in for a thunderwave next round. Maybe even double thunderwave with an AP. At H8 she'll still have cover against some of the slingers, they have a new target in the wolf, ands he has almost as many HP left as Hergunna does, after all.

AP now plus cloud of daggers to kill one more certainly wouldn't be a bad move, either.

I hate having to NPC someone's PC, it's hard enough to decide for my own PC. :)[/sblock]
