I treat acts as having alignment (think of your soul as having 9 sacks, and the sacks you fill up the most are more useful in the afterlife). This tends to focus on the combat aspect of D&D.

LG: You feel bad about hurting something (or good about helping them), and the act shows conformity to a standard
NG: You feel bad about hurting something (or good about helping them), but you don't want anyone to think too much about the act
CG: You feel bad about hurting something (or good about helping them), and the act defies conformity to a standard (defying conformity is more important to you than quietly conforming to a different standard)
LN: You don't have strong feelings about hurting or helping something, and the act shows conformity to a standard
N: You don't have strong feelings about hurting or helping something, but you don't want anyone to think too much about the act
CN: You don't have strong feelings about hurting or helping something, and the act defies conformity to a standard (defying conformity is more important to you than quietly conforming to a different standard)
LE: You enjoy hurting something (or feel bad about helping something), and the act shows conformity to a standard
NE: You enjoy hurting something (or feel bad about helping something), but you don't want anyone to think too much about the act
CE: You enjoy hurting something (or feel bad about helping something), and the act defies conformity to a standard; those with a tendency toward CE often seek infamy.
