Wesley was Giles replacement only after Gwendolyn Post showed up as Giles original replacement and tried to take the Glove of Mhenygon for her own evil purposes. So technically he was the third Watcher that season. :D

Well, if we're going to go all-out trivia here, she was an ex-watcher. She'd been kicked out. So she wasn't really Gile's replacement at all (nor did she claim to be, she said she was Faith's new watcher). So there :P

This is interesting. Is it just me that thinks that Angel and Buffy shows that vamps are truly evil? Demons are more multilayered, that I admit, but not vamps. Darla and Dru is also very nasty creatures of the night, the nightmares they unleashes after Darla chooses to be a vamp again is utterly frightening. I was glad to se Darla go (I´m referring to the killer-spree in the store). It´s a complete mystery to me that Angel doesn´t finish them off when he has the chance.

Well, to me that scene was entirely out of character for where Spike was at the time. It always bothered me.

You know I haven't caught that episode, but seen quite a bit before and after, and have NO IDEA how that could possibly fit into the continuity of spike's character... Maybe it will make sense if I ever catch that episode, maybe there's something about it that I'm not picking up on from the references (Xander actually came close to the same attempt in season one when he was possessed by hyenas) or maybe the writers just had an incredible brain fart, I don't know... But even when he first developed the crush on buffy, before we saw the depth of his feelings, he had her tied up and unconsious and didn't even cop a feel - instead he tried to force her to admit there was something real there for both of them... Cold blooded killer I can see, but I never saw rapist in his character - there was much more of that in "evil angel".

You have an Guy Gardner avatar? All I get is boxed 'x'.

Anyways, I haven't had the GG avatar for long. Month or two maybe.
Used to have the one in my sig.

But anyhoo. Does it bug you?

I suppose the simplest explanation is that although he was trying to act better, at his core he was still a soulless vampire and in anger and frustration he reverted.

IIRC that is what ultimately convinced Spike that he wasn't worthy of Buffy as he was, and why he went for a soul.

yeah i've had a mini-guy since day one.
nobody told me he was broken. :-(
im sad now.
i will try to fix him.
is anyone else not seeing poor guy?

Then, between Season Three and Four of Buffy, Spike turns Harmony into a vampire. Why, I have no idea. Apparently the writers wanted an immortal ditzy blonde for comic relief, to torment us forever.

Minor nitpick: Spike didn't turn Harmony into a vampire. That happened at the graduation, when vampires attacked Sunnydale high (while the Mayor was doing his giant snake-demon thing). Spike just hooked up with her afterwards.

But I do wonder why some people think Spike is unredeemable for that but were ready to redeem him for all his other murders and atrocities. Let's be perfectly honest, Angel and Spike have BOTH been way to evil to be redeemed. Just for watching them we should probably all burn. But they make for fun tv :shrugs::

What I hated was that suddenly Buffy became some weak little girl. The entire scene makes no sense.

I blame the First!
Oh, and bad writing. Mostly the bad writing :)

Indeed. Marty Noxon is the root of all evil. The attempted rape scene in season six, Riley Finn in four; many are the wrongs she has inflicted on Buffy fans over the years. One day you will pay, Marty Noxon, one day you will PAAAAY!
