AtG Howling Crag (5e PBP) OOC

@Kobold Stew
Think we are waiting for your input IC?

As for bastions, I pointed out the flaws, but I agree with @TaranTheWanderer - I want to see how it works in practice. @FitzTheRuke any issues with the customizations I posted?

I am going to go through my RG sheet one more time before we set off and review spells etc.* - will probably take sending or something similar to keep in contact with Wyatt so he can take and relay orders. Also, assuming approval, I do not want to retcon anything else, except the poison from the graveyard to two angry souls. The poison thing doesn't work with Doc.

*I note my edits on the bottom of the character sheet.

I have no issues with what you've posted.

And I have no issues with @Steve Gorak opting out - I can award Gimlak with similar benefits just by having dwarves (and locals) treat him like a prince. And if we ever go to the dwarf kingdom... who knows?

Well, Gimlak is somwhat of an ascetic, so he doesn't expect to be treated like a prince. However, a small group of dwarves that can go about managing the details of a diplomatic establishment makes sense. Maybe a some guild representatives, and a few guards. Maybe a dwarven shop in the village. I don't expect to leverage that, unless it is beneficial to the storyline. As a high level spellcaster, I feel Gimlak is powerful and capable enough. But thanks anyways ;-)

BTW, to keep the psion feel, I'd appreciate it if the material components for clairvoyance can be crystals. One for seeing and one for hearing. And he channels his power through them. Thx.

Oh yeah, I don't mean that regular folk from the town will bow and scrape or anything.

Sure, sounds good.

Crystals it is.

@FitzTheRuke

Not sure if you saw this. It probably needs approval but it's where Donnell got his map.

The clan scouts is the library (which is level 5) but slightly more specific. I was trying to think of a good add-on for a level 9 and thought of Expert Cartography. It adds advantage to specific rolls(see below) but the theatre adds a d6 to rolls and its useable once for a single roll. (wow, theater is really a lot of work for small benefit.) Anyways, don't know about the balance of it.

Clan Hostel (Level 9)

The MacDonnell Scouts: A small, elite, band of trained scouts, loyal to clan Donnell. They range out, gathering information, scouting the land and reporting on events such as enemies in the area, locations of interest as well as politics and gossip on rivals. (dm can use this to insert plot hooks!)

When you issue the Research order to this facility, you commission the facility’s hireling(s) to scout a specific area. The topic a known event or location, a person of significance, a type of creature, or a famous object within 50(100?) miles of the clan holdings. The work takes 7 days. When the scouts return, the hireling obtains up to three accurate pieces of information about the topic that were previously unknown to you and shares this knowledge with you the next time you speak with them. The DM determines what information you learn. (optional: This costs 50gp. They like to eat and drink.)

Expert Cartographer: You can command a scout to gather information or scout a location to which you will travel. This could by physically scouting the area, or if that is impossible, finding information from known informants or legends. The scout will then craft a map and description of the area. This work takes 7 days. Once you are given the map, you have advantage on Knowl. Nature and survival checks to find shelter and to not get lost. With the DMs discretion, it could also give hints regarding the terrain or even denizens of the area. After 7 days, the information garnered is too stale to be considered reliable.

Those were some great posts to get us started on the Adventure-proper!

I will make a couple of maps, both near and far, and post an overview ASAP.

Life has not been kind lately for having time to play PBP (grandma's in the hospital, comicbook industry is a terrible mess with no relief in sight) but I could really, really use the escapism.

I'll see what I can accomplish this evening!

It occurred to me that I could add a quick description of the place itself, though you are just setting out, two of the group have probably seen it by now.

I posted a brief bit in the IC- Doc is good with any direction at this point.

BTW, since I now have acquired certain abilities as a DEPUTY that I am definitely unused to, if anyone has tips on the best use of giving someone Soul's Help* let me know.

*inspiration

It can be a visible or invisible Spector who helps or hinders people. Perhaps certain souls get a chance of redemption or have made similar but lesser promises to the Sheriff that Doc has made and must pay those debts. You are the Sheriff’s middle man who gets to choose how those debts are paid.

Edit: I can add horses for people if they want one
