D&D 5E D&D Cartoon Character Miniatures Are Coming!

Get official miniatures of the the 1980s D&D cartoon heroes in September for $29.95! The Dragons of Stormwreck Isle set is coming from WizKids and features slightly older versions of Hank the Ranger, Eric the Cavalier, Diana the Acrobat, and Presto the Magician, plus a cleric. There are only 5 miniatures, so there's no sign of Sheila the Thief, Bobby the Barbaria, or Uni the Unicorn.

These aren't technically the D&D cartoon heroes -- it appears that they're listed as Paladin, Cleric, Wizard, Fighter, and a Rogue. But they are clearly very heavily based on them.

I think this has been already mentioned, but the pregen characters in the new starter set are inspired by the cartoon characters, they are not intended to be those characters.

The classes have been selected to match a typical beginners' party, not to be the best fit for the cartoon. So no free powerful magic items. The adventure is for character levels 1-3.

Eh, I'd say you could balance the items. Hat of Wizardy is at common, the bow could just have the Repeating Shot infusion permanently on it, the shield could have Enhanced Defense, the staff is a combo of Rope of Mending and the Pole of Collapsing. They'd be SLIGHTLY above the standard power curve, but...

You could do it. But there is no point, since the are not the actual people from the cartoon, they don't need the actual gear. After 10 years in D&D-land Hank, Eric, Sheila and co are going to be level 20, not level 1-3, as this adventure is for.

It's a starter set. They don't want to teach new players that starting with powerful magic items is the norm. They may well drop a few of the items into the adventure as Easter eggs, but the pregens will start with normal gear.

Yes. As I said, they appear in the art (including the art on the box cover) but that's it. They don't feature in the adventure itself. I don't remember who said that, but it was reported here on EN World.
They are the pregens in the included module, but they are not explicitly the cartoon characters. That's just a not so secret Easter egg.
