D&D General D&D is so mainstream...

... that 5,000 miles and an entire continent away from where it's made, the BEHOLDER is a drink in a pub.

Mainstream media outlets regularly feature D&D, as do popular TV shows like The Big Bang Theory and Stranger Things, and now it's in pubs across the world!

The pub in question is The Hobbit, in Southampton. The ingredients of the Beholder appear to be melon liquer, blue curaçao, and vodka energy.

Mainstream D&D is what ruined the game for me. Anything popular usually gets ruined as the game morphs into something far too different and leaves behind those who wish to stay more conservative about it and who wish their style could be more supported. Wish it stayed niche. We had such great products and a vast number of them pre-4E days.

One day WotC, or some other company, will do the smart thing and support ALL editions. Be nice if the DMs Guild opened up permission to publish D&D material for ALL editions, instead of 5e only which is crap. It'd be nice to see a 3.5e version of some of the 5e adventures, newer monsters, and more. Or an Expanded Incarnum book, a Fiendish Codex 3: Yugoloths, a Tome of Psionics book, Monster Manual VI, and more.

I absolutely want to run a mini-campaign where players must find freedom, beauty, truth and love.

Beauty is obviously in the (central) eye of a beholder. Truth is in wine (a giant pool with some very drunk sahuagin in it), and love is in the (elemental plane of) air... not sure where to find freedom yet.
Well, propoganda:

You could go full Orwellian…

Look at the OSR, I believe new material is being made to this day for older editions.

Also all four of those books, I think, could be done under the OGL.

Go forth and create! WotC has done you a favor and made it all possible. Unless the requirement that it be on the DMSGUILD is, somehow, essential.
