D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

Maybe main point Iis Rottin Tomatoes exaggerates the extremes positive or negative with movies.
Personally I think the sites hot garbage and all but useless for determining if a movie is any good or not.

May as well find a thread on ENworld about a movie it's a better guide than RT. Not sure about Metacritic.
The aggregate score is very good for letting one know at a glance if the reception among critics is great, terrible or mixed at a quick glance. Which is what people want to know when making a decision.

I don't I go for audience score. Critics like arty forty movies, historical dramas things like that.

They're absolute crap at rating action, comedy and other "low brow" movies.

It's for people who like wine and cocktails, frothy coffee, organic tea and kale salad. Beer and pretzel crowd not so much.

...

I like literally all of those things on voth enda of the scale, lol, the world isn't quite so black and white.

The audience score is useless, because of bot spamming it's juat noise. The critical score at least indicates something.

If the audience score use being bombed I tendvto average it with the critic score. Critics tend to over rate some stuff by around 10-20%

Score might cone in low still but it's usually closer to what I would rate a movie out of 10 or % based rating.

Generally RT is only decent if both scores are within
10 points of each other.

Better yet use imdb.

Reviews are fine professional critics take with grain of salt. They love boring historical type dramas for example.
To be honest, I find professional critics reviews to be much more reliable than your typical movie-goer reviews, and certainly when there is a broad consensus among critics. Do I always agree with the consensus? No. But much more often than not I find myself in the same ballpark. For example, I struggle to think of a film that scored over 90% on RT that I thought was a bad film, even if it wasn't my particular cup of tea. But I can think of lots of films that were huge at the box office that I thought were terrible.

I do not find critics "absolute crap" at rating action films, comedies, etc. I love a good action film, and when I look at my favourites on RT: good reviews. Edit: also, you are really stereotyping film critics - if you look at RT, you'll discover an extremely diverse range of tastes.

This film being screened at SXSW is a positive sign; be even better if they lift the review embargo early. Don't pay attention to the early social media reactions; those are always BS and spin.

Kinda similar but a lot if big budget blockbusters don't score that great with critics.

I dont tend to like those movies much either but I'm self aware enough to realize they're not for me and appeal to larger crowds eg MCU, Fast and Furious etc which I watched on steaming for example.

I love the MCU and the Fast & Furious franchises, and hard, but I have to say the critical consensus is usually pretty spot on. Check out the Metacritic ranking (unlike Rotten Tomatoes, which juat gives a percentage of binary "Fresh-Rottwn", Metacritic actually aggregates 5 star scores) for the Fast & Furious and MCU movies, pretty much dead on:

They're to low on the Fast and Furious even the vad ones are better than 38 lol. I don't think I woukd even put Rise of Skywalker that low.

Blade 1&2 are better than those rankings as well. Off on X-men not to bad on MCU. They don't like "dumb" action type stuff so you might be proving my point lol.

Not claiming they're the best movies ever but better than those ratings

Hey, man, I love 2 Fast 2 Furious, particularly all the Chrysler PT Cruisers pretending to be hot rods, but 2 out of 5 stars is about right.
