D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

Hey, man, I love 2 Fast 2 Furious, particularly all the Chrysler PT Cruisers pretending to be hot rods, but 2 out of 5 stars is about right.

Na that's getting into Rise of Skywalker territory IMHO. And there's worse movies than that (Highlander 2, various B grade movies and made for TV hallmark movies, stevean seagall movies etc).

I kinda have a soft spot for the dumber Fast and Furious movies. They're not great but there's a lot worse.

They're to low on the Fast and Furious even the vad ones are better than 38 lol. I don't think I woukd even put Rise of Skywalker that low.

Blade 1&2 are better than those rankings as well. Off on X-men not to bad on MCU. They don't like "dumb" action type stuff so you might be proving my point lol.

Not claiming they're the best movies ever but better than those ratings
See, I have the opposite reaction; I think critics are way too generous with those FF movies. But I think they are about right with the Marvel films. It’s all subjective.

Well if 38/100 is to high for them what about films like Highlander 2 or Robocop 3?

And there's worse fims than those. I watched Curse of the Cannibal Confederates in the 90's;)

I mean, Highlander 2 is all but unwatchable so I'd give it a 0, and I don't think I've seen Robocop 3. B movies are a separate category.Tthe FF movies bug me because they are predictably dumb CGI-fests rather than fun dumb. For me. And I like pro wrestling, so, you know, it's all a matter of taste.

I don't mind wrestling in small doses. Old WCW could be good, NXT was really good WWE been a bit meh for a while (havent seen post (2020)but would watch AEW if it was easily available.

But yeah various B movies are worse than Highlander 2. Steven Seagal made for TV movies are notoriously terrible but he has only done 1-3 ok action movies.

I like the first F&F movie boyvracer types I knew loved it.

I dont really understand this worse films comparison argument. Robocop 3 and Highlander 2 are rated much much worse than F&F films. Why are they being compared here? I mean if Highlander 2 had like a 36 and F&F whatever had a 38 I could see the argument, but its not even close to that. 🤷‍♂️

Well my original claim was critics don't like pop culture and "low brow" type films. Eg crude comedies, things like Fast and Furious.

I personally don't think thecworstvF&F film is lower than a 5/10 and a 38 is way to low which is approaching Highlander 2 or Robocop 3 type levels of bad IMHO (25% ish).

Films worse than that (yes they exist) are the 10-20% bottom feeders.

Essentially I'm saying critics are snobs and out of touch with films outside certain genres and what they like vs general audiences likes.

They're always gonna score big dumb films low but I would rather watch Blade 1&2 for example than most of the MCU. I understand if you don't like Blade or Fast and Furious (I'm not claiming they're great either) but I think they're better than those abysmally low scores the critics gave them(well Blade 3 is fairly bad).

The other point is critic scores won't do much to move the needle one way or another for the D&D movie. Hell Fast and Furious is billion dollar franchise despite low scores *its not made for critics) not to mention meh MCU and St⁸ar Wars films raking in other of cash.

I only use critic scores in some generes generally arty type films, Oscar bait type films or historical dramas. Fantasy, horror, action, comedy they're fairly useless.

I think the fact that bad action franchise films can score such big bucks is a contrast to art house films. Film D'Auteur have to be good to net a large return and are almost entirely unknown if bad. So, action films in comparison have a much larger gulf between the good ones and the bad ones. I mean, you just insinuated that Highlander 2 and Robocop 3 are bad, but there is much worse out there. To me, those films are already the bottom. Critics have to weigh Lord of the Rings against Your Highness or Star Wars against Pluto Nash. The action genre is packed with examples at all ranges of the critical spectrum. You cant simply say I really like emo-goth vampires better than Supers. I mean, subjectively you certainly can, but objectively you have to measure the films on their execution as well to make a fair assessment. I don't think you are doing this, and certainly don't appreciate that critics have to. 🤷‍♂️
