D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

One of my players is going to a press screening of the movie tonight (sadly, I couldn't go with). Should see some initial twitter reactions from the press corp after that and then reviews will start coming out following the official premier of the film tomorrow night at SXSW (which is opening the festival) when the 1 day review embargo is lifted. Gotta believe Paramount is banking on it being well received and using the next three weeks to ride a wave of good reviews to push up the opening.

Oh...the official review embargo lifts this early? That's really unusual, and a really good sign.

Its being shown to the general public at an Austin film festival tomorrow, hard to keep it under wraps at that point.

Yeah, they specifically timed the press screening so that reviews could start coming out with the SXSW screening today. Haven't heard from my buddy who went, but hoping to soon.

Indeed. Even if it's a 3/5-type movie that's going to potentially help it a lot, because a lot of the scepticism around I've seen from people (which has surprised me but is out there) revolves around the assumption it'll be a barely-watchable 1/5 deal or a "not worth cinema money" 2/5 one.
