October 14, 1066:

A Norman archer at the Battle of Hastings scores a critical hit, killing Harold the Saxon with an arrow through the eye. The remaining members of his party leave the game after arguing with the DM about his homebrew critical hit location table.

Thomas Jefferson had nothing to do with the writing of the U.S. Constitution.

Oh yes, let's all have a go at the foreigner who doesn't know who wrote the U.S. Constitution. Well Woe Is Me, I'm undone! How will I survive?

Sorry, that was uncalled for. I do apologise.

Oh, btw, that line about Marie Antoinette. That was funny.

Shouldn't that be 1789?

1776: The American Revolution breaks out after King George and Parliment keep playing the colonials characters while the latter group is away from the court in the Americas. "No game-play with out representation!"

28 June 1914: Using the spell sniper's eye, Gavrilo Princip makes a ranged death attack at Franz Ferdinand, who failed his save. This was seen as blatant player favourism by the DM, since the others were only allowed core book materials, and no evil characters. It comes to violence at the game table, which quickly escalates beyond anything ever before.

Late July, 1588: King Philip II of Spain sends La Grande y Felicissima Armada to escort his troop-barges across the English Channel. Unfortunately, Alonso de Guzman El Bueno, 7th Duke of Medina Sidonia, commander of the Spanish Armada, was only given a copy of the vehicle rules present in the DMG for this undertaking.

Elizabeth I of England provides her commanders with copies of Corsairs, Dead Man's Chest, Seas of Blood, Seafarer's Handbook, and Black Sails Over Freeport, and grants Sir Francis Drake 5 levels in the Dread Pirate PrC.

The English Navy, solidly empowered by new feats, spells, prestige classes, and handling rules, easily routes the Spanish Armada.
