Just a quick poll on how many people have a website for their campaign.

I know of a few people here who do (you know who you are! ). I think having a site is an amazing resource but it can be very time-consuming as well. I'm currently working on mine and hopefully I'll have it posted soon.

Also, for those that do have a website, a few more questions:

Why did you decide to make a website for your campaign?
What type of content do you include on your site?
Do you mind posting a link? I always like to stea...umm, I mean look at what people have created. :D

My website is just a messageboard. I will not post a link since it has stuff on it that isn't OGC.

Peace and smiles :)

Yup. But I don't have all the OGC legaleze in place, so I don't usually pimp it. When I get a bit more time, I need to figure out how my content manager works and get things tidied up.

  1. At the time I wasn't actually running the setting, so it was easy to spend hobby time that I'd devote to my game development actually doing the website. Since I started playing, the updates have actually gotten much more infrequent. Other than that, I decided to do it because I had so many changes to the rules that I figgered my players would need some kind of central resource to show where all the rules were.
  2. OGC rules, and setting fluff, mostly. I've also mirrored my Story Hour posts over there, although I think I'm an update or two behind.

You betcha! Have done so since the mid 90's. I find it to be a tremendous resource -- it helps the games hang together when there's a place the players can go to read the prior adventure logs. I post house rules, character stats, logs, maps, etc. And I find them to be a wonderful way to "preserve" what would otherwise be a very ephemeral experience.

All I've got right now is forums, for both my game and others that I'm involved in. Eventually, I'll try and get some more content up there, but right now its just in the form of posts on the forum. I make sticky posts with current XPs at the top of the forum so its easy to check up on where your PC stands, etc. There's also gallery software with pictures and maps and such.

This brings up a good point (and something I've been wondering about).

If you post rules, mechanics, and crunchy stuff on your site, what do you need to do to be safe? Can you just post the OGL license? How do you know if you need to or if the content you have posted is a no-no?
