Doctor Who 2007: Blink

Legend
It's this season's "Love and Monsters", the episode in which the Doctor doesn't appear much. Sally Sparrow finds a mysterious warning in a "haunted house", and finds herself being stalked by "the friendliest psychopaths in the universe".

I loved it! Especially the key moment where
they realised no-one was watching the angel
. I am rather confused, though, why the Doctor didn't
write to Sarah-Jayne, or another ex-companion why needing to summon help from the past
.

Next week: They're off to the end of the universe. I can recommend a good restaurant. Also, Captain Jack's back (for real this time), and Sir Derek Jacobi does... something.

That was a bloody good episode. Very creepy in places, and the bit at the end is gonna have kids looking nervously at
statues
for some time to come. Very well written story by Stephen Moffat.

Excellent story. 9/10 from me.

My wife spent almost the entire thing hiding under a blanket, creeped out by it.

I rate this along with the 'empty child' as the scariest episodes yet (unsurprisingly the same author, IIRC).

That really was a good episode using a clever plot device at the end and being genuinely scary.

Looking forward to Captain Jack's return next week though.

Doctor Who is hitting the mark time and time again right now! This year started off weak, but it's really made up for it with three stellar eisodes in a row.

Very pleasantly surprised. I liked Love and Monsters last season, but the beginning of this and the notion of there being one episode every season that doesn't strictly feature the Doctor kind of made me leery. I really enjoyed it, though. Solid concept, and suitably creepy. Didn't care for the little bit at the end, though- I thought it just seemed silly and out of place (I'm talking about the rehash of the "Don't blink" speech and the shots of all the statues).

Did wonder a couple of things, though. [sblock]One, why didn't Sally and Lawrence walk back to back through the house. Seems to me that would have helped them out. Either that, or make use of that big mirror that was standing in the hallway behind them on the landing. The second was when they stood up in the circle of statues at the end, I just couldn't help but think how stupid that was. If they'd broken the statues line of sight, they'd have been in trouble again.[/sblock]

It seemed to make sense to me.
If Sally included exact instructions on what already worked in the package she gave him at the end, he knows he already has a plan that would work. On top of that, breaking with established events in his own timeline (if I'm following what has been established in the new series) could cause bad things to happen. As resolutions go, it seemed to work out fairly well. Even Billy and Kathy seem to have lead happy lives.

Good point.

BLOODY 'ELL...

That had to be one of the most frightening things I've seen on the TV in quite awhile. :D

Seriously, I was about ready to wet my pants at the closing minutes. Those weeping angels have got to be some of the scariest monsters I've seen on Doctor Who. Also loved the bit with the whole SPOILERS time is not linear, which enabled the Doctor and Sally to communicate with each other SPOILERS. :)

Can we ask the BBC to have Stephen Moffat write every episode of Doctor Who from now on? Seriously? :)

Looking forward to next week, besides the return of Captain Jack, Claudius himself! :) Always a pleasure to see Sir Derek strut his superior thespian muscles.

Anyway off now to rave about this episode elsewhere. But whatever you do:

DON'T BLINK! :D
