Duergar with 2 Charisma

First Post
Hi,

Im planning to play a Duergar with the following stats

Str: 15
Dex: 8
Con: 19
Wis: 13
Int: 13
Chr: 2

I was looking being a cleric and maybe 1 lvl of fighter taken at 2nd. Im not to concerned with turning undead, and probably most of my spells will be buff spells on other character or just myself. I looking at getting plate armour so dex isnt important.

Any suggestions on how i should roleplay my 2 Chr?

Some people say that im not good looking, though i must be better looking that some because i alway here someone commenting on how ugly and hideous the person behind
me is. :) I imagine my character to have pus ozing boils on his body, which lets off a pungent odor, enough so there is a clear 10ft area around me. Babies cry when i go by.
I would normally wear a cloak to protect me from bright sun and also to hide my hideous
features. When i speak i normal drool and spit great wads of green bile towards the listener, otherwise im fairly quite and non socialable. I say the wrong things at the wrong time and usually can hurt other fealing without even knowing it. I have poor manners, burping, farting..oh wait thats me.

Cheers
Z

Take a dwarven cleric substitution level from Races of Stone, and get Smite Giant instead of Turn Undead. ;)

Enjoy (you despisable, very, very ugly, scarbellied dwarven monstrosity with Cha 2)! :D

If you're taking offense, I'll edit the greetings line. Honestly!

I see characters with low charisma as having no personality. Not ugly. Not rude and obnoxious. No personality.

So...don't try and be funny. Don't try to be intimidating. Just try and blend in with the rest of the people. You are forgettable because your personality is so...not.

Less than trying to blend in, I think your character would be the epitome of meekness and unquestioningly follow others' orders.
I agree. I had a friend ask me this question for an orc with an unfortunate roll of 4, and he played it up the same way after my advice. It wasn't that he was meek necessarily--he was still a raging barbarian--but he was extremely suggestable and biddable.

That's how I consider an average (10) personality. I consider a low personality to be someone who people actively dislike on sight. In a fight, he's the one first to be targetted. In a negotiation, his very presence makes it harder for the others to negotiate (guilt by association?). And if a NPC has to find a patsy to pin a crime on, he'll be the first one they think of. After all, who would believe him if he denies it?

Sounds good, the complete opposite to being a leader and taking the inititive. No one will follow me, but im happy to be a bit of a lacky to some of the party members and following orders...im probably going to be Chaotic Neutral, i'll try to follow orders most of the time, but occationally my chaotic side might kickin.
Having poor charisma shouldn't effect your communications skills, ie languages, general talking etc, right?

Thanks everyone for the advice. I actually have another set of stats which arnt to bad, probably above average, but i this as being alot more unique and more rememberable as a character.

The effect upon your language skills would probably be due to not being able to express yourself, so stuttering might occur when you are trying to say something important. He may just have a hard time saying what he means as the meaning in his head does not match what comes out of his mouth. He would know this happens and might get frustrated by it.

Low cha does not mean able to be commanded and led by others, that would fall under willpower and wisdom. Low cha means that social interactions don't go off right, he is unable to impose his will on others neither bluffing, friendly or intimidating, its all just off.

In one campaign, I am playing a Dwarven Fighter/Cleric with low Intelligence and Charisma, but good Wisdom. I play him as an old, almost senile character that tends to say weird and/or annoying things (phrases that make sense only to him or will point out obvious things). He will interact with others in such a way that it becomes annoying (calling the halfling rogue a child, or telling the Ranger how to do things) And yet, sometimes what he says will speak a hidden, wizened message :D
