ENWorld Gameday Minneapolis/St. Paul - any interest?

For me, the Source is the better location, so I went and talked to them about hosting a gameday on either Sunday, April 20 or Sunday, April 27, starting at 12:30pm.

Now we just need some people to come and some events to play!

I'll start off the list with:

Round Robin DMing. We sit down, pick a level (fairly low to keep things simple), roll up some characters, and take turns DMing - the entire game is made up on the fly.
I used to live in Minneapolis and attend the Chicago Gamedays. I would suggest pregenerated characters and blocked out time slots. So, have a morning session and afternoon session, slots to accommodate the amount of space you have (with the Source probably 3-4).

Just some suggestions. Glad to see something like this starting up there. Have fun!

We've had Boston game days that were one single game for six people, and game days where we filled a house with 35 folks (and could have gone much higher if we had more space.) I'd recommend not worrying too much about logistics to start off. Pick someone's house, or a good game store, and give folks at least a month advance notice to sign up.

Definitely use pre-gen characters and 4-5 hour time blocks.

and if it were to happen some time around CONvergence con, I bet I could name two east coasters who might be able to make it out there

@ Winterhelt: The Source is only open from noon to six on Sundays, so we can't really have a morning time slot unless we host it elsewhere.

@ Piratecat: When I played a Round Robin game at Gencon, we just created characters on the fly in the first half hour of the game. It worked pretty well, so I hadn't been considering changing that format.

@scholar: I suppose we could be doing Minneapolis ENWorld Gameday II around then, depending on how it goes.

Is it possible to do this on a saturday? I think they're open 10 am to 9pm on saturdays.

That way we could meet at 1030, start session #1 at 11am, break for lunch @ 3pm, start session #2 @ 4 and clean up at 830.

@ mcrow: Saturdays are less convenient for me, so I'd really like to stick with a Sunday.

@ Primitive Screwhead: I'll check with the fine folks at the Source to see about the 27th. When I reserved tables, I wrote "20th or 27th", and they called me back saying "We have you signed up for the 20th".

@ everyone: I'm definitely going to run *something* - if a Round Robin DM game doesn't appeal, I'd be happy to run something else. Lone Wolf RPG, Eberron, or maybe something focusing on dragons. I have several scenario ideas :)

Edit: The 27th is RPGA day at the Source, so they have a shortage of open tables that day. We're definitely on the 20th.

Okay. So far, the following people have expressed interest:

sjmiller
mcrow
morgul97
masshysteria
Firevalkyrie
resistor

Should I sign you all up for the Microlite20 game?

Alternatively, is anyone else interested in running something? It would be nice to have two events available; I'm hopeful that we can get more than half a dozen people together :)

PS I've updated the first post with date, time, and the Microlite20 event.
