Erotic publications for RPGs

With the recent banter about the Book of Erotic Fantasy, I think it would be interesting to launch a poll on the subject of eroticism in publications for our hobby--in particular D&D...

I am curious about how ppl respond to this issue in general with respect to their own personal situation "statistically speaking".

"committed romantic relationship": if in doubt I mean seriously involved with someone (a "steady"), a common-law situation, actually married (civilly or religiously), or similar degree in involvement with another.

Let's see who we are and how we respond...

BTW: I am curious if there is a strong gender divide on this issue, if at all--so I hope women represent themselves well in their numbers here! Everyone, if you know a female gamer who you think might like to vote but normally doesn't post much here, please encourage her to participate. The voting itself is anonymous

i am male, married, have no kids of my own, but have multiple nephews, nieces, great nephews, godchildren, etc...

i don't approve of the kids buying them. but i will approve if their parents want.

On behalf of much concern I would then ask everyone to keep things as clinical and clean and apolitical as possible!

Let's stick to the numbers and our observations, not the personal politics--PLEASE!

Merak: Since the poll options are limited to 20 (unless that's changed?), I felt that teenagers not interested in romance and/or physical intimacy were rare enough to be excluded. Also, I don't think pre-pubescent gamers are mature enough to deal with this topic of the poll either... Choices had to be made--I tried to be as fair and careful as I could.

What about people that just dont really care. I guess I would be under approve, and that is where I voted. But in reality, I just don't think it is a big deal either way.

Approve, but...

I voted for 'approve' (well, one of them, the specifics are irrelevant), but that's based on a freedom of speech and/or freedom of the marketplace argument.

While I wholeheartedly support the contributor's rights to make and sell such a book to whomever may want it, that doesn't mean I have any interest in it myself. I don't as yet based on the horrible press release and the lack of real information as to what's in it, and I can't say as my games have been missing that particular component. I just don't see myself picking it up, but anyone who wants it is welcome to it.

The bitterness and puritanical complaints on this subject - and the BoVD too, of course - are mind-boggling to me. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Simple as that. Try to legislate/mandate/determine my morality and you're picking a bigger fight than you can win.

You seem to have completely forgottn the position that many may hold - "neither approve, nor disapprove". Approval suggests likign it. Disapproval suggests disliking it. What if you really don't care if it exists or not?

That'd be my position - don't care, don't really have any current interest in buying or reading such. OTOH I voted 'approve' since I don't 'disapprove' of it, which I think is more the point of the poll.
