Ever play a PC of the opposite gender?

I've played close to 40 or 50 female characters in tournament games, and 2 or 3 female characters in ongoing campaigns. It's no different than playing a male PC, and works just fine.

Anyone ever play a character of the opposite sex because of magical sex changes? }:)

I have to admit I have only played a female character once, and it was a character that was your typical cutthroat with no moral and living of scams, burglary and assassinations. This was before the campaign started. Just before the campaign started, he donned a girdle of masculinity/femininity and got the looks of a frail, princess-like girl. This was why he/she joined up with the good guys, because she wanted a solution to her problem.

Ah, the old girdle of masculinity/femininity. My all-time favorite cursed item in the game. I mean it's totally harmless, doesn't screw with the character's stats, force the character to use it all the time, doesn't insta-kill the character. It simply changes your sex, and then loses all its power. The effect if anything, is purely psychological; I think some players would find the item totally disturbing if they used it.

That makes an interesting tangent to this thread; anyone ever end up playing a character of the opposite sex because of the girdle of m/f, the glowing orange portal in room 14 of the Tomb of Horrors, or any other similar magical means?
