Finessable reach weapon?

It was suggested to me a while back to use spiked chain stats, but swap out the trip/disarm for a x3 or 19-20/x2 crit. I'd eliminate the attacking people close to you alos, and make it martial.

Thanks all. My gaming library is quite sparse, and I wasn't sure if something like the Arms & Equipment Guide or Complete Warrior would have such a thing. I'll keep looking.

I'd allow a bamboo spear (like the one used in the movie Musa: the Warrior).

Bamboo Spear (Exotic) Slashing 1d6 20/x3 10'r Large 3lbs Hardness 5, 2 hp (Finesse, Monk)

Note: can NOT be 'set', because the bamboo is too weak & flexible.

If i remember correctly, some of the real world rapiers were extraordinarily long. What D&D calls a rapier is more a light-weight cut&thrust sword.
But I'm not really sure whether this would qualify for reach, as it isn't really longer than the greatsword, which has the normal 5' reach...

Elven Mithral Megarapiers...

Is the mancatcher still around? I would think that thing would rely less on STR and more on DEX to make a hit... though you would still have to make STR checks to keep the target grappled...

Yes. It is in Complete Warrior. Nothing about Dex, however. It's a reach weapon allowing one to start a grapple as a free action if one hits.
