Grackle finishes chanting, and a dusty, impish creature with stone-flecked skin materializes nearby. The gnome grunts out in Terran "Smash the evil flying skull!"

Then he mutters in Common "Wh-what about Jillie?"

[sblock=ooc]Gahh! Sorry for holding things up. Hardly checked EN World at all in the past week or so while waiting and dealing with all kinds of distractions at home. Didn't realize I had ignored EN World for quite so long.

I'm not sure if Ballista has any bardic music effects active right now or something, and not sure if they affect the elementals, so I haven't factored in whatever mods she might have on the group at present. Only Grackle's own Augment Summoning feat is factored into the rolls, along with flanking and Earth Mastery and such.

The earth mephit flies in to attack from above, as the earth elementals continue their assault. The mephit gets a 21 to-hit for 8 damage.
1d20+10=21, 1d3+5=8

Earth elemental attacks, with Earth Mastery's penalties factored in, are a 19 to-hit for 12 damage, and a natural 1 on the second elemental's attack roll.
1d20+5=19, 1d6+6=12, 1d20+5=6, 1d6+6=11

Active Effects: Mage Armor (9 hours), Shield (9 minutes), False Life - 10 (3 hours), Resist Energy - Acid 20 (cast once on everyone, 90 minutes), Summon Monster IV (5/9 rounds).
Spell Slots Remaining: 6/6 0-level, 2/7 1st-level, 0/7 2nd-level, 4/7 3rd-level, 1/5 4th-level.[/sblock]

Ballista's aim is destroyed by the loss of her roguely friend. All three arrows pass so close to the bobbing skull that speckles of frost pepper its bony visage.

Seeing the horrific whithering of jillian sends the mercenary in a twisted mind rage! One of his blows seems powerful enough to do some harm to the skull.

Logan seeing Jillian perish so horribly, finds another reserve of testicular fortitude and raises his mace over his head with both hands and rushes forward to smash the skull loudly yelling, Agghhhh! Die you skull bastard! You slew my Jillian! I loved her!! The blow connects and spins the skull around, but it does not seem to harm it. It seems immune to all but the most powerful blows (DR20!). Logan feels a divine calm come over him and he is graced with the knowledge that several of the scrolls scattered on the floor have the power to harm or slow the skull.

Zorn mutters a curse under his breath before conjuring another small orb of freezing cold energy that he hurls at the skull. He very nearly misses, but the orb strikes a glancing blow that chips another small chunk of bone off the skull.

Garagos swings his axe again... and again! The first blow lands, but Garagos is aware that the skull is too hard for the blow to harm it (DR20).

Then he mutters in Common "Wh-what about Jillie?" The elementals and the Earth Mephit leap to the attack, but do not seem to be doing much good.

The skull turns its terrible gaze on Garagos. (DC23 fort save please.)

Logan, seeing that he can do no good with his mace, defensively pulls back from the skull and begins inspecting the scrolls lying about that he feels most drawn toward. "Hello! What have we here?"

Ballista slaps her flaming arrowhand to her forehead. "Maybe you can cast some kind of spell to protect us from that death gaze instead of crawling around on the ground Logan? Maybe one of you can pin it to a wall or the floor with a tanglefoot bag or something like that to make it easier to hit? Or catch it in a bag to blind it?"

Logan comes up with a divine scroll containing Dispel Evil and Command and a second scroll with arcane writing he cannot decipher.

OOC: That's a move action feel free to cast use one if you wish.

In one fluid motion, Logan fully unrolls the divine scroll and flings the arcane scroll in Grackle's general direction. In his best public speaking voice, Logan intones the words of Dispel Evil, targeting the skull.

Grackle trembles in fear of what must be going on in the room, but stays clinging to the wall out of sight, gibbering out a minor protective spell for himself and taking out one of his magic wands. Maybe he should have used it earlier. Maybe it won't matter. He just knows that it sounds really bad down there.....

His earthen allies continue their physical assault on the evil, floating skull, with the mephit scoring solid hits with its small, strong claws, though one elemental puts up a good effort as well.

[sblock=ooc]Grackle casts Resistance on himself, then retrieves his Wand of Haste from his Handy Haversack.

Earth mephit and earth elementals continue attacking. The mephit gets a 28 to-hit for 7 damage with its first claw.

Forgot to roll the second at first. Second claw gets a 27 to-hit for 8 damage.

Earth elemental slam attacks are an 8 to-hit, and a 20 to-hit for 8 damage. Earth Mastery penalties already factored in.
