Ballista slaps her flaming arrowhand to her forehead. "Maybe you can cast some kind of spell to protect us from that death gaze instead of crawling around on the ground Logan? Maybe one of you can pin it to a wall or the floor with a tanglefoot bag or something like that to make it easier to hit? Or catch it in a bag to blind it?"

Maybe one of you can pin it to a wall or the floor with a tanglefoot bag or something like that to make it easier to hit? Or catch it in a bag to blind it?"

Ballista's aim recovers as her first 2 arrows sink solidly into the skull and causing it to spin and bob crazily for a moment. The third slides harmlessly off the side of the enemy and she takes a step across the ceiling toward cover.

Harrison swings his sword only to see one of his hits actually harm it, bringing him to a state of deadly calm. He drops his shield and takes his sword in both hands. He feels bone splinter under the blow this time too.

Logan, seeing that he can do no good with his mace, defensively pulls back from the skull and begins inspecting the scrolls lying about that he feels most drawn toward. "Hello! What have we here?"

In one fluid motion, Logan fully unrolls the divine scroll and flings the arcane scroll in Grackle's general direction. In his best public speaking voice, Logan intones the words of Dispel Evil, targeting the skull. Smoke pours off the skull as the magic takes effect clearly damaging it.

OOC: Waiting for Graybeard aka Zorn.

Grackle trembles in fear of what must be going on in the room, but stays clinging to the wall out of sight, gibbering out a minor protective spell for himself and taking out one of his magic wands. Maybe he should have used it earlier. Maybe it won't matter. He just knows that it sounds really bad down there.....

His earthen allies continue their physical assault on the evil, floating skull, with the mephit scoring solid hits with its small, strong claws, though one elemental puts up a good effort as well. A scroll tossed by Logan flies toward Grackle and he figures it would be easy to reach out and snatch it from the air as it passes or he could let it tumble on toward Zorn...

OOC: I'll hold the skull's action until we hear from Zorn.

Graybeard

Explorer
Zorn

Shaking his head in disbelief that the skull hadn't been crushed yet, he conjures yet another ball of freezing cold energy to hurl at the damn skull.

OOC: Lesser Orb of cold, ranged touch attack: 1d20+6=13, 5d8=16 Pretty lousy rolls but maybe I'll be lucky.

His earthen allies continue their physical assault on the evil, floating skull, with the mephit scoring solid hits with its small, strong claws, though one elemental puts up a good effort as well. They drag the battered frosty skull from the air and pound it to dust. The gems remain in the scattered bone dust, a couple gleaming with a strange inner light.

A scroll tossed by Logan clatters to the ground unneeded. Otherwise only the heavy breathing of the adventurers can be heard in the silent tomb.

All hail the conquering heroes!

OOC: Congratulations! You are among the elite few to survive one of the most infamous dungeons in the history of the game. I salute you.

The Haul

Shinies for everyone!

• Ninety-seven 10 gp gems and three huge gems (a 1,000 gp peridot, a 5,000 gp emerald, and a 10,000 gp
black opal).
• Gems set in the demilich construct: two jewels set into the eye sockets (5,000 gp rubies) and 6 pointed
(marquis cut) diamonds set as teeth in the jaw (each diamond worth 500 gp).
• Three potions of cure serious wounds, one potion of heroism, two oils of keen edge, two potions of fly and a
potion of greater magic fang.
• Two scrolls of command, one scroll of slow, one scroll of arcane eye, one scroll of shatter, one scroll of scorching
ray, one scroll of dispel evil, one scroll of Melf’s acid arrow, and one scroll of power word kill.
• A ring of feather falling, a lesser rod of silent metamagic, and a staff of fire.
• A +3 defending greatsword, a cursed backbiter spear, and two –2 cursed longswords.
• A pair of goggles of lifesight (see Libris Mortis, page 78).
• A wrapped tower (see Libris Mortis, page 76).

If the demilich construct skull is destroyed, each character trapped in a gem must make a DC 18 Will saving throw. A failed save indicates the demilich
construct drained the soul and devoured it before being destroyed. Those who succeed are not destroyed, but their soul remains trapped in a gem; this is evidenced by a faint inner light (and the character is visible as a tiny figure within the gem if viewed with true seeing or similar effects). Treat the gem as the result of a successfully cast soul bind spell (page 281 Player’s Handbook).

Walking DadGaragos can make a DC18 Will save.

I made a roll for Jillian, but did not succeed, but I really only singled her out for the soulsuck because she was inactive, so I am overturning my roll and saying that she is trapped in the gem. It's good to be the DM.

Do you remember the miscreants that attacked us at the beginning? Well My guess is that they will try again when we return. Do we have moreof this tomb to inspect?
