Hidden racism in the last Star Trek movie?

In the last star trek movie you had two main races. These were the Baku and the Sona, in the end of the movie you learn that in fact these two races are the same race.

This leads to an interesting problem. The Baku are all Caucasian, while the Sona show themselves to be of several races.

Do I sense a little racism caused by some lazy and unthinking FX guys and writers?

I think you may be overanalyzing a bit. The human mind can see patterns anywhere if it looks hard enough. Star Trek has always been a series that broke through racial barriers, not built them.

I think that was more becasue of the experiments this sect of the race underwent. I agree, this was not racist in any way.

If you are refering to the women who were "fixing" the Sona leader's face, they are not Sona.

There were two "conquered" races serving them, the Tarlac "big foreheads & bad hair" and the Ellora "Reptillian frill-like heads". All of the pics of the Ellorans I've seen are black actors in the parts.

There was a dark skinned helms man at the controls of one of the Sona Battleships. He carries a weapon and subdues Worf in a fight.

If I Recall Correctly...

The Baku and the Son'a are actually of the same race. It was the Son'a who left the confine and affect of that planet's environment that change their outlook.
