Homebrew world idea I just had

I just saw a map on the WoTC forum that had a huge map with all kinds of D&D settings, like continents from Eberron, FR, DL, GH, Mystara, Birthright, Dark Sun, and more. If you would would make your own world, how would you like to put continents from settings like Realms, Eberron, Nentir Vale, and all kinds of other homebrew continents? For Dark Sun, parts of Athas could either be in the regular world, a desert moon next to the world, or a world located in the Astral Sea. I think it sounds like a pretty cool concept.

That's how I built my first "world" - as a crossover mashup from hell. I think this CAN work (Rifts, for example), but if you're not careful, it comes off really cheesy.

thats part of the concept behind the old 2e spelljammer, all the other campaign settings were merely planets in space, which you could visit at your leisure.

However, you could try the Rifts/Gamma World way to go, where its endless portals to just about everywhere, think Sigil on a planet sized theme, but make the portals mostly one way(who would want to live in Athas if you could possibly immigrate?), then you could really have a fun confusing time. And like he said, its going to get cheesy if not done right, or, go all Rifts and cheese the hell out of it, who said your dragons cant have plasma cannons?

I would very much rather have a campaign (or different campaigns) set in a single world that would have all the major continents from other settings than just going to every world for that setting. Dark Sun could be an exception, as you could put it in the Astral Sea, the rest you can brainstorm on your own.
