Ah, OK - that’s what I thought …

Guess that’s why the previous post that said “Season 2 just excellent” kind of threw me - that’s not normally a declaration one can reasonably make after a single episode …

Solid start to the season. One thing I continue to appreciate after the last several seasons of GOT, is that they have returned to a slower pace, giving scenes time to breathe rather than hurrying from plot to plot. It adds tension and character in ways that later GOT lacked.

I will say that the castle was disturbingly unguarded. I think the intention was "the lord commander of the king's guard is doing Alicent rather than his job". But I mean.....there was NO ONE. No regular guards, no kingsguard, not a soul. That's a bit crazy to me considering its:

1) The Queen
2) The heir
3) The King's mother
4) The King's brother
5) Who else knows what other lofty people are on that floor.

It felt like I'd seen this story before.... It seemed, I'm not sure. It might be that I need to see other parts of the kingdoms? I enjoyed it, but something was too similar to what we've seen for me

I was really expecting that twin plot to carry longer. Aka one of the brothers dies and now we don't fully know if the good or bad twin survived.

I think the show assumed I cared about the twins more than I did....I mean they were neat and all but we didn't have that much screentime with them so honestly their fight didn't do anything for me.

I tell you I think Damon gets a bad rap. People always assume he is out to get the throne, and I geniuely believe he supports Rhaenyra
