House of the Dragon spoiler thread

Half-way through the current episode but I have to comment on one of the most Police Squad/Naked Gun-ass lines I've ever heard:

"Then we will take the throne!"
"The throne milord?"
"It's a big chair made of swords"

It just immediately replayed in Frank Drebin voice in my mind I could no longer take anything very seriously. Someone needs to do a Police Squad car driving around intro for House of the Dragon.

I had a similar thought, but it left my old brain quickly.

Best dragon scenes ever. Maybe house red could stop being stupid though? It was all a bit predictable, other than the king dying.

Wonderful episode, HotD continues to bring in the goods.

My main nitpick in this episode, what on earth was Rhaenys thinking going up against Aemond like that? She's a very smart tactical woman. She has just taken out the king (most likely), she burned out a decent chunk of the army, and now has fallen into an ambush. its....TIME TO LEAVE.

She had the chance, and then turned to attack Aemond. That made no sense to me. Even if she goes "well there's still an army there"..... there is no math in which losing that dragon is worth taking out the army. That was the realization that Cole has on the battlefield when he finally sees the dragons in action.....compared to dragons soldiers are nothing. Rhaenys cooked one little army and lost a nuke in the process (not to mention one of the best advisors to the Queen).

My only explanation was that she didn't think her dragon could outrun Aemond's....but that isn't really portrayed, in fact it seems very intentional that Rhaenys consciously turns around to charge at Aemond rather than running away. I was screaming at the tv when it happened.... "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!!"

That's more than a nitpick, and I agree. Plus, why didn't they send three dragons? The entire enemy army was there. As I said above, that camp has no strategy or tactics. Their one leader who did, was just stupid for no reason other than plot.

That part I could understand, don't wanting to put all of your eggs in one basket (also in case it was a feint to attack dragonstone or some other secret plot). In mean in theory even one dragon is more than enough to take out that entire enemy army.

It is an interesting juxtaposition. Aegon wants to act too much, Rhaenera too little. Even when she comes back and is like "ok I wanted to end the war but its not happening so I'm fully committed now", but then....she gives no real plan. That was the moment to come in and go "alright people I've my decision here's what's up". But she still struggles with indecision, hell she didn't even really agree to Rhaenys going, she was just kind of silent about it.

She is going to have to start putting together a real action plan or her advisors are going to revolt.
