(IC) Against the Giants PBP Group 1

Legend
The young giantess smiled at Bible's compliment on her grasp of the common tongue, showing big gaps in her rotten teeth. Her smile quickly turned to a frown as she doubted that her father's chest could contain enough treasure to buy a whole ship. Maybe small folk had tiny ships, she decided, shrugging.

Jack checked the chest. It was safe from traps, but locked up tight with a very large cast-iron keyhole. Both he and bible also spotted a square dwarven-built shield hung over his mantle as a trophy. Its craftsmanship was exquisite.

As she waits for Jack to pick the lock, Bible eyes the dwarven shield.

"Valda," she calls out, "you might want to use this shield in the fight to come. I'd use it myself, but as I'll be usin' Waithe, I wouldn't get no use out of it."

Jack's lockpicks were a little cosmetically misshapen under the weight of the tumblers. He'd have to bend them back when he had more time, but the lock was fairly crude and came open easily. It took both Bible and Jack to lift the lid on the chest. Amid a pile of furs (not as fine as Nosnra believed them to be) was a few sacks of coins, gems, jewelry, and other valuables that Jack estimated were worth the equivalent of 2500 in gold. I addition, there was a thick glass bottle, sized for a giant, that held a thick syrupy liquid and had the giant rune tillvaxt etched into its surface.

Tillvaxt = "Growth". It's a potion, but it's enough to be four of the same potions for regular sized-folk. You can drink it and pass it around, or you can carefully fill four empty healing potion bottles with it. Portion of Growth (x4). (Basically four Enlarge spells)[/ooc]

"Hmm," Bible says, picking up the bottle and examining the rune. "This says it's for 'growth'. Who want's to show these gianks they ain't the only bigs in town? Arf arf arf!"

"Thisk buys your freedom lass. Now be gone with you!"
she says to the giantess and her servant, pointing towards the northern door.

She collects the empty healing potion bottles and pours out four equal doses of the giant's potion. Then she gulps one down and positions herself to shoulder open the central pair of doors, readying one of her axes in her hand.

"I yam ready now," she says. "Who's with me?"

Legend
It was time to make one last big push to defeat these giants once and for all. When everyone nodded that they were ready, Valda and Bible hauled open the great big doors between the giants' dormitory and the hall itself.

The great hall was packed with giants. This would not be easy - not at all. Their one advantage was that the young giants were a rowdy bunch, and the sounds of fighting, if any had been heard at all by the giants assembled in the great hall (it seemed that they had been arguing, and their voices boomed loud enough to mask most of the din of battle) had been ignored.

Chief Nosnra was seated in the middle of a long table, where food was laid (in spite of the damage to the kitchen), He was an enormously fat giant, with long dangling jowls. He'd been stuffing his face with sausage, and it was smeared with grease. Beside him was one of his lieutenants, on his right, and an older giantess on his left. (His mother? Mother-in-law?) At the far end of the table was a Stone Giant - likely the "emissary" that they had heard of. At the near end of the table, with her back to them, was the Chieftess. The current favorite of his wives.

Two young giants "played" around the big central fire. The further one was pulling on a ragged stuffed doll that was nearly the size of a man. She tugged on one end, while a grizzled old bear tugged on the other. Closer to them, a giant lad was sparring with an ogress, learning how to bash heads with his club.

An older male giant servant tended the big fire, and further south were two hill giant guards, one of whom had been outfitted with a full suit of armor and a great heavy spear, presumably made by the Fire Giant smith before the group had killed him.

It was a lot. But in the brief moment as the doors were opened, the only giant that really noticed them was the Stone Giant, who pushed back his chair and stood up.

Then, all was chaos.
