The bugbears body slumped to the floor with a satisfying thud, and the northman got to surveil the hallway south before slamming the door. Injured bugbears and orogs were no real concern, but they would no doubt raise the alarm letting someone know there were enemies inside the stronghold.

Looking about the burning room, Kahru grabbed a nearby bed, tossing off the flaming covers and pulled the frame up against the door, hopefully enough of a barricade to keep the door shut, or at least make it difficult for anything wanting to get in from the south.

With no enemy nearby, his rage was subsiding, his breathing and heartbeat returning to normality. He looked about wondering if the fires in the room would burn themselves out or if they would become a hazard for him and his companions - they would need to rest soon.

For now though there was still a commotion to the north and so satisfied that the door was secure and the rooms fire would not become a danger Kahru headed up to check on the others ...

Donnell moves in, shield raised, trying to get the Giant's attention,

"Your apes deserved to die! Come on, show me what you've got!"

OOC:
Dodge action(disadvantage to attacks) as he tries to taunt the giant. I guess I'm changing my mind as I don't want to leave the Colonel undefended. moving to square between giant and Colonel, adjacent to giant.

Doc looks on with grim satisfaction as he sees Hoss dispose of the angry monkey that was disturbin' his shootin' lines and recklessly go after the big ugly. Hoss sure got hisself some brass ones for a deputy that ain't got no gun. He also see that Donnell, with a fearlessness that Doc admired, was takin' after and tauntin' the nasty rustler.

Seein' that his amgios needed a little help, Doc focused the ire of the Nameless Sheriff on the big ugly and loosed two bullets from the peacemaker, seeing that both hit their mark.

The Colonel zapped the last ape, and the misshapen giant rose to his full height, dropping the body of the other ape. He hefted his axe and began to stomp forward while the Colonel ran to intercept. Donnell bravely followed, and stepped in front of the Colonel as the axe came down, slamming hard into Donnells shield and nearly knocking him to his knees. As the giant brought the axe back up, Gimlak mocked him, and though the giant was distracted, the axe still came down hard on Donnell, and he felt his body nearly buckle under the strain of the defense.

While this was happening, Doc kept on shootin'. Two bullets pierced the giant's big hump-back, as it leaned over to mash Donnell. Though it caused the giant pain, it did not yet deter his assault.

In the barracks, Kahru flipped a burning straw pallet in front of the southern door and returned to join the others.

OOC: A lot of disadvantage, but the Keeper still managed to do 17 damage to Donnell.

The Colonel is worried for Donnell, but he knows the lad can hold up. He continues his approach to the keeper, and braces himself, lightning dancing on his fingertips.

He reaches out, to allow the discharge, but fails to connect. He jockeys for a better position, frustrated at his inability.

OOC: Move 20' to CV56.
Action: attack with Shocking Grasp: 1d20+10=12 MISS.
Move 10' to CU55, trying to draw his attack or to get an opportunity attack in if he tries to flee the old man.

Doc reckons the yung 'un paid the price for his courage, but that he was showin' us all that he wasn't just all hat, no cattle, by takin' that whomp for Hoss.

Keepin' perfectly still, Doc loosed two more rounds o' lead straight at the big ugly, gettin' no small measure o' satisfaction in seein' him the mark.
