D&D 5E [IC] Against the Slavelords

Try as he might, Kelvyn can't figure out the inner workings of the lock. He does manage to find the mechanism that opens the sliding view board in the door and is able to open it. The room beyond is board and long with very high ceiling. There is a double row of cages lining two sides of the room. Each has a door with a heavy locking mechanism in it. On the floor of the cells are straw and wooden bowls. Each cell holds a few men and/or a women, although each could hold more.

Strolling down the central corridor between the cages are three humans and five orcs wearing heavy armor and black cloaks. The seem to be examining the folk in the cages and talking lightly among themselves. There is also a hulking ogre standing by the door although he is looking away from it (and Kelvyn), watching the humans talking.

Round 9

“Remind me again why we brought the rogue?” Tirion teased quietly as Kelvyn struggled with the lock. He took the report from Kelvyn and nodded.

“Seems we may not get surprise, but I might be able to get the door open,” Tirion told the others. He moved so he could see the ogre.

“Open!” Tirion commanded the great brute, putting the force of magic behind the word.

With Tirion word of command the ogre turns his head dimly to the door and unlocks it and then opens it. Shaking his head in confusion his eyes clear with surprise and he yells (in orcish) "Intruders!!!"

GM: Ogre Wisdom save 1d20-1 =7, failed!
Everyone roll initiative. NOTE that the hallway you are in is 30ft long and 5ft wide so only allows one person to pass down it a time. At present, Tirion is in front, then Kelvyn and then Uhtred. The Ogre is right in front of the door so you can pass by or through him either and you can't end in an occupied square.
Ogre's Initiative roll 1d20-1 =13. The other humans and orcs are surprised this round and will react next round. They are 40ft away in the room (I will get up a map here for 1st round)

Tirion, squeezed passed them and, using his magic, got the ogre to open the door. Seeing the orcs and men further into the room left him undecided, kill the ogre or stop anyone fleeing. He settled on the ogre, his faster friends would have to see to fleeing messengers.

Crowded into the corridor there was no space and Uhtred buzzed with anticipation to charge the ogre. Hooking his axe behind the brute's knee Uhtred hoped to topple him, but it's footing was solid. Bringing the axe up for a blow, Uhtred found himself off balance and missed.

As Kelvyn tried and failed to pick the lock, Quellathe eased back to give the others room to enter the room.

I'm guessing neither hit, but here are the damage rolls in case. Cayote Code still choking on d6 rolls so I'll have to roll hunter's mark damage separately, and use enworld's roller for hunter's mark

As the ogre shouted its warning, Uhtread could do nothing but wait for a pathway to be cleared. Quellathe shot two arrows at the beast but with the cleric blocking the way her arrows missed. Levanna had better luck with acid splash causing the guard to grunt in pain. Then Kelvyn managed to shot a bolt into the creature’s shoulder as Tirion mace struck with a hard blow. The cleric’s guardian spirits assaulted the creature.

Cursing and howling in a mix of pain and rage, the ogre stuck out with its huge axe that glanced off Tirion but still almost staggered the cleric, so great was the blow!!!

Tirion let out a roar of defiance of his own. He called upon Pelor to heal him and swung his mace out at the ogre again, but his mace clanged off the beast’s bracers as it brought a trunk-like forearm up to block. Quellathe quickly counts her arrows. She grumbles in frustration as she decides she has too few arrows to risk more shots while Tirion is blocking her line of sight. With determination, she knocks an arrow and waits for the ogre to fall.

[sblock=rolls and actions]
Quellathe will hold her action for now, but will ready an attack: if the ogre falls, she will move if possible to get clear line of sight on another target in the room, move hunter's mark to that target and shoot two arrows--rolls below for the sake of not delaying things. If Tirion falls before the ogre and she has a clear line of sight on the ogre, she will shoot at him.
