D&D 5E (IC) Scourge of Daggerford

OOC: It's not an extra die, it's an extra 5 points when you spend a die. Drui was at 8/18 so if you take your first roll of four, and add Dandin's 5, you're at 17/18 and still have your other Hit Die left.

Legend
Tarthagal and Ganlan disappeared into the forest, scouting the path and looking for trouble, while the others rested. Ulaqui dressed Maingalad's knife-wound while scolding him. Averiel patted Tommi on the back while he coughed, much to his surprise and delight.

As Titus made sure that his puncture-wound from the goblin's small arrow was not bleeding, Morwin came out from the underbrush and rubbed into his leg. The winged cat was carrying a long thin bone, carved in runes. He put the bone at Titus' feet and began to wash his face, licking his paws and rubbing them on his cheeks.

OOC: I think I need Titus and Angis to roll Hit Dice and for someone to confirm that you plan to head north and rescue the human chain-gang. Unless you'd like to do something else, and assuming anyone remembers them. Enseth should repeat ORB1's scouting report for those who have forgotten. Then we can move on!

As everyone was gathering around to discuss the group next step, Enseth summed up ORB1 last report:

"Three things were noticed by ORB1.
1. The destroyed palisade, north west side of the town.
2. The labour camp, nine miles north by north-east, protected by some Worgs and Goblins.
3. No Thayans were found, yet. "

Dandin's singing died away in the face of the report. The reality was just sinking into Dandin's heart when a spark of anger mixed with a spark of hope lit him back up. Standing suddenly he spoke out. "We need to go and save those people at the camp!"

He looked at a loss for a moment, still trying to formulate his argument, assuming that there might be resistance to the plan. Then he continued, more slowly as the ideas locked into place. "We can't abandon them here... And besides, they might have some useful information we can use... And survivors might help us convince the duke to fight... Right?"

Suddenly embarrassed, he sat back down, fiddling with an apple.

Drui opens his eyes and walks to the group. He looks at Dandin as a smile happens upon his face - this time, a different smile, unlike his usual crooked expression. A smile of empathy. Truth is that Dandin's words rang deeply within Drui's mind, and his own shyness moved the cleric. He saw in Dandin a nobility he himself searched all around without success, most of the times. He himself felt put to shame by Dandin's abnegation, his willingness to risk his own hide to save others - and for that he was satisfied, even grateful.

Drui admired Dandin in a way he hadn't realized thus far.

"Dandin's right. We gotta save them folks. Info or no info... We gotta." - he proceeds to sit down by Dandin's side. He leans towards his companion. "Your heart's in the right place, friend." - he whispers.

Legend
When Tarthagal and Ganalan returned, everyone was ready to leave. Tarthagal said (in elvish, as he did not speak more than a few words of the common tongue), "There is definitely a strong fey presence in the heart of this forest. We may find shelter there, if we are respectful. I think the goblins know of it, and are afraid to go very far into the forest, which is why they have not followed us."

Averiel translated, for those not familiar with elvish, and said, "We could find our way there before nightfall, if you wish, or we can stay elsewhere. But first, we will see about these human prisoners, as our brave halfling has suggested."

With that, the elves began to lead the way through the woods toward the hill that the locals called "the Bump".

Tommi makes his way over vine-encrusted trunks of fallen trees, impressed at how easily the elves manage their way through the forest. Their natural agility contrasting with his comparative awkwardness. Within an hour he has moss-smears all over his clothes, yet the elves' remain spotless, as they blend seamlessly among the forest colours.

Tommi keeps an eye out, ever watchful, but is unable to see far in the dimming light.
