In-person Game cancelled. What do you play?

One player missing, we play anyway unless its a vital moment.
Otherwise, like so many here, its a board game or something game related otherwise but the important part is that people who do turn up, get to play something. This helps them come back.

The Conan board game by Monolith (Not, I repeat, NOT any of the other Conan board games. There's a big difference), with any of its gorgeous expansions. That's the greatest board game of all time.

Board games are our second choice for game nights. We might play one because someone can’t make it, or life and work has meant the GM couldn’t prep in time for the current session, or we are having a short rest between campaigns.

We don’t sweat it, roleplaying is fun, not work, so there is no pressure on the GM and we are happy to play other in-person games. And the volume and quality of board games at present is off the charts, so it’s also a really great thing to do together.

I have a 4x4 Kallax full of board games in the gaming room here, and a couple of the other guys also have fairly sizeable collections so we have more games than we have time to play. It’s part of my ‘retirement planning’. 😁

If one player can't come, we play without him. If DM can't come, either one of us wings one shot or we just get together and hang out. Same if more than one player can't make it. Rest of people who can make it, get together at our favorite caffe, drink coffe/tea and just hang out. We play Sunday mornings and most cancellation notices come either Saturday night or Sunday early morning.
