Anyone see this episode?

Seems they gave away a lot this time around. It's pretty clear now that the shapechanging theory seems to be correct. That girl and the way she was talking to Muriel was very creepy.

And her comment about mother's intuition....is she an alien who is more aware of her true nature than even Tom? Or is it something else?

I'm of mixed mind.....towards the very end of the episode, I was starting to wonder if Tom is actually just human, and he's walking around thinking about near-death experiences, not realizing he's been replaced? Or at the very least he's an alien, but didn't realize that the original people were being killed. Maybe he thought he was host to an entity but that it was a positive thing...now Muriel has shown that they aren't even who they think they are. Tom did seem awful surprised to see Muriel's body in the water...

Yupe, saw it too...it was creepy with the girl. And yeah, a lot was giving.

But at the end, when he was asked, did he see it.

He flat out...LIED.

And going back to the girl. Sounds like of one of two things...different factions?

yeah, I'm starting to think the aliens come in different factions... the sherrif was being presented as a bad guy at first, but now I have to wonder... might he actually be an alien who is hoping to blunt or thwart the intentions of the bad ones? Yep, this episode was rather revealing... it's definite about Muriel being 'replaced'... no doubts now. And yes, this episode was creepy. This show was kinda blah when it started, but I find myself getting more and more interested in it....

That's my suspicion.

I think Tom obviously knows he's "changed" since his plane accident (which ocurred a while ago), but not that he's an actual alien and has been replaced (and that, indeed, the creepy girl is more aware of her true nature than Tom is).

That's my guess, anyways.

(Now, the weird skeleton they pulled out in the first episode - do you think that's Tom's first wife, or Tom's original body? [Or did they mention that they think the skeleton was that of a female - I can't remember?])

People with near-death experiences often talk about being changed. Maybe Tom is just figuring he was lucky to be alive. When he was walking around in the water, looking for the body, he appeared startled when he actually saw it....almost like he didn't think he'd actually find one. Why would that be?

My theory is that he doesn't realize the alien thing....but it doesn't quite fit, because of how he reacted to the kid that was trying to pull Muriel into the water. He held him under the water, seemingly knowing that the kid wouldn't drown.

Yet he's surprised to find Muriel's body?

Unless he knows they're aliens, but he thinks it's a positive take over/merger kind of thing, like Invasion of Body Snatchers or something......and he didn't realize that he's not actually Tom.....he's something disguised as Tom.

This show is getting creepier and creepier by the episode, and I like it.

The two factions idea might be right.

And as to Tom lying......I don't get it. I mean, Muriel saw the body. What's the point in lying? Unless he hid it before coming home....but the preview for next week seems to indicate that they find something when Muriel orders him to dredge the swamp. And it also shows her telling Dave what she saw.

As I was watching last night, I was increasingly noting a pattern. Everyone who's been "taken" appears to have been found in or near the water, with not a mark on their body.....everyone who's had an encounter with the creatures in the water, but not been "taken", has come back with weird wounds....David, Justin, the diver, etc.

Muriel found a piece of the creature in the diver's body, still alive, sucking something out of him.

What if these creatures kill their victims and eat their memories....then, once they've done that, they take their shapes, and use their memories to act as them. Those who've escaped had wounds on them,

The skeleton they found in the swamp I'd be willing to bet was Tom at this point. They know his wife died in the crash, and how likely is it that her body wouldn't have been found? I'm betting Tom was killed and taken years ago.

I have to admit the show has really grabbed me too, even though it had a painfully slow start.

The fact that all of the theories thrown out in this thread so far are all quite plausible goes to show there's still much more to wait for.

Finally some TV worth watching.

Well this is the episode that won me over. I was a fence sitter for a long time. I'm really looking forward to the whole dynamic with the aliens in the community/support group thing.

You know...what's the big deal on TV with Titanium? They make it out to be a wonder metal when it's not. Speak with an engineer, and it's useful because it's light, but that's about it. Depending on what alloy of titanium is used, the strongest titanium is weaker than the strongest steel, and the weakest titanium is a bit stronger than the weakest steel. It's not really a miracle metal or anything.

In any case, I think that in the boxes are either pieces of a downed spacecraft, pieces of an alien they've captured, or baby aliens....something like that.

I don't think they are aliens, I think they are mutant dolphins.


Titanium is nice because it's basically as strong as steel, but about half the weight. Probably just used in this case because it's easier to carry a titanium box than a steel box. Because they want to carry it easily, but don't want the tiny mutant dolphins inside to break out.
