I feel like every new superhero show is trying out a different genre. Worked for Wonder Man, and this teaser has me interested.
Im really enjoying the DC shows better than the movies. Though, I also liked that run of Marvel shows on Netflix (minus iron fist) better than the movies too.

The costume for Lanterns has hit the interwebs.

they look like they're going late mediaeval with it.
Really?

But maybe that's too expensive or whacky to start with?
I think it's much, much harder to "quick-start" understanding of the characters as men, as opposed to as Green Lanterns. Cosmic ring-slinging would be too distracting to developing than for new folks...

Not sure how I feel about Old Man Jordan.

One thing that is interesting about Gunn's DC Universe here is that supers have been around for a while. Some of them are going to be getting ready to retire. The idea of building in the Passing of the Torch to the universe from the get go is kind of bold, if they can pull it off. Will we see Nightwing too, or Wally?

In isolation, this looked interesting! On the other hand, I’m having a hard time imaging how this is going to work, since we’re talking about (at least one) Green Lantern. I mean, on one side it seems we have a corrupt small town sheriff. And on the other, someone who routinely deals with Kaiju and invading armies without breaking much of a sweat. What is going to be the conflict here?

Even if they don’t want to use their powers directly to stop the corrupt officials, because they are ‘legitimate’ or whatever, surely foiling whatever schemes they have should be dead simple? Or maybe I’m completely misreading the situation?

You're misreading the situation and ignoring all the major structures that were shown cut in half in the trailer. This is not going to be Reacher -- this is going to be something superpowered.

Again, this is like Peacemaker, which initially seems to be Daredevil-level shenanigans but which then spirals way, way beyond that.

Also, just because you can blast Mongul into the sun doesn't mean you can solve a small town corruption problem in the same way. You can't fix that sort of thing by punching it.
