Legends of Mistyka: New D&D 3.5 Campaign OOC (Recruiting ended; accepting alts)

I'll let you start with 50 gp over on one condition, Rev. Your character is in debt to a loan shark to the sum of 50 gp, which he expects to be paid back... with interest. ;) If that sounds like an interesting roleplaying angle, then go for it.
Love it. B-)

Just to let you know, I had to drop Weapon Focus, because I didn't meet the +1 BAB pre-req, so I instead chose Iron Will. I hope my min/maaxing doesn't upset you too much.

Min/maxing doesn't bother me. It's a logical thing for a player to do to maximize the potential of a character. I do it myself so it would be hypocritical for me to judge others. I just want to maintain a semblance of balance between players. If one player chose to start with four 8s and two 12s, I would suggest they improve their scores. I'm fine with the extra 50 gp as long as it doesn't come with no strings attached (and believe me, there will be strings).

I should have the game ready by tomorrow. Your characters are currently staying at the Rushing Boar, a common inn in Dillarak, where you are making plans for your journey to Duomir. You have acquired a map (how is up to you) that should guide you there as there are no longer roads in that direction. You expect the journey to take about a tenday on foot so make sure your characters are outfitted with enough supplies for at least 20 days to ensure you can make the trip. Bear in mind 20 days of supplies would only give you time to briefly explore the ruins, so a few extra days worth would be a good idea. Don't forget things like torches, rope, and sacks or possibly a mule-drawn cart to haul back all the great loot you are expecting to find.

Common knowledge has it that the route is dangerous. As inexperienced adventurers, it is possible you may encounter things that you are ill-equipped to handle. Be prepared to flee from such perils if necessary. If your character dies you won't be able to introduce a new one until the party returns to town. Sometimes intelligent foes can be negotiated with. Diplomacy and Sense Motive are useful skills in this regard, especially when facing the aforementioned challenges. However, it is assured that if you keep your wits about you, you will all return wealthy and more seasoned for the experience.

Since re-calculating my money to the average has left me with quite an excess (I rolled below with the original), I'll change my armor to chain-shirt. And probably get a small wooden shield also.

On the off chance that a slot opens up I would like to propose the following... Man I'm ticked I didn't spot this earlier! Ah well c'est la vie.

Halford Daern

Halford is a charming egomaniac with as much common sense as the average boot. He tends to view the world as his stage and acts accordingly - sometimes he even gets away with it. Despite all of this in Halford's delusions he is a hero ever ready to save damsels in distress and slay dragons, etc. Described by many irked aquaintences as infuriatingly likeable.

Human Bard 1 Chaotic Good

Str 11, Dex 16, Con 14, Int 16, Wis 8, Cha 18

HP: 8

Saves: 2/5/1

Feat: Skill Focus Diplomacy, Weapon Finesse

AC: 18 (3 Armor, 3 Dex, 2 Shield)

Attack: Whip + 3 (1d3), or Rapier + 3 (1d6, 18-20x2), or Shortbow + 3 1d6

Skills:
Bluff 8
Diplomacy 11
Gather Information 8
Knowledge Local 7
Knowledge Nobility 7
Perform Sing 8
Perform Strings 8
Sense motive 3
Tumble 7
Use Magic Device 8

Equipment:

Rapier 20gp
Whip x 2 = 2gp
Shortbow = 30gp
20 Arrows = 2gp
Studded Leather Armor = 25gp
Heavy Wooden Shield = 7gp
Traveler's Outfit = 1gp
Entertainer's Outfit = 3gp
Signet Ring = 5gp
Lyre = 5gp

Total = 100gp

I would also add the following if flaws and traits were allowed from the SRD - I don't feel they render the character overly powerful, but undestand a great many DMs dislike them.

Flaw: Inattentive - 4 penalty to Spot and Listen, afterall the world should be paying attention to Halford not the other way round! Use to add Skill focus Bluff.

Traits: Easygoing = +1 Gather Information, -1 Sense Motive
Polite = +1 Diplomacy, -2 Intimidate

Sorry for no posting yesterday everyone. I had a touch of the flu and didn't make it far past my bedroom or the bathroom. :p

Drowned Hero and Halford, you are welcome to hang on as alts for now. I'll keep you in mind in case someone drops out or I decide to start a Beta group. Halford, the flaws and traits you selected are fine.

You can feel free to post in the game thread and talk with the other players in-character, although it was really just a placeholder until I give you more to interact with.
