Monk - what do you like and dislike?

It might be interesting to ditch the flurry and give them bonus virtual TWF/ITWF/GTWF feats and keep the unarmed damage at 1d6 (the equivalent of a good club) but give them bonus weapon specialization and greaterWS in unarmed combat - so with full BAB by 12th level they would be attacking +12/+12/+7/+7/+2/+2 for 1d6+4+Str. Lots of somewhat weaker blows would seem to fit the archetypal flurrying martial artist quite nicely.

Umm, just as a question, what is wrong with flurrying with only one strike? Why is it wrong to keep striking with that same enhanced appendage? Nothing in flurry states that I HAVE to use different body parts with each strike, only that I can.

'Enhanced appendage'? Which appendage you use is flavour text. Your weapons is your unarmed strike; that's what you enhance.

Nothing wrong with it all - which is why GMfang can give the full benefit to a monk.
 

Thanks, that's what I thought. The whole, you need to enhance your arms, feet, head, elbows etc thing I thought was wrong, but, just checking. :)

It looks silly. If you're only hitting with one body part, your opponent should get an AC bonus because of your predictability - not that there's any rules for that.

Why? It might be one body part, but the body might be doing cartwheels so it keeps coming at you from different angles!

There's a feat called Tumbling Attack in Iron Heroes that does something similar. Without it, you would need to do Tumble checks as free actions when attacking (and the DC would be quite high).

And I still think it looks silly.
 

Silly? Bah. Uldorf Skullcrusher, famed Dwarven Monk, disagrees.

"I hit him with my face! Again! Rhino hurls jackel! Gazelle spears wolf's groin! Moose locks horns attack! Rapid-fire Woodpecker assault! Flying corkscrew Headbutt!."

Granted, he's no beauty queen.

Okay, it works for a few characters. A very few, non-serious ones.

It doesn't look silly when Uldorf does it. (At least, that's what I say when he's out of earshot. When he's away, I'll snicker. And hope he isn't that stealthy.)
