Monster Builder still FUBAR?

Afaik, they haven't with the Character Builder - yet.

I have not experienced loss of data with char builder but I do have a question: Does anyone know if there are plans to make the houserules sections actually DO something? There are options for creating custom house stuff but its all just hot air. I would like to create custom powers and actually have them useable instead of just flavor text.

The monster builder has been really good. Nothing has vanished yet. I will make sure to export before updating though.

I don't know of any plans but I sure hope something like that is on the agenda, and if it's not, I wish the agenda revised. ;)

I'm betting they'll have an Adventure Tools feature that will allow you to custom create all the house-rules stuff, then export/import the xml file into the Character Builder. That way, the CB stays for character creation, and the Adventure Tools allows for customization. You read it here, folks, this is pure psychic precognition.

Yeah, it's Beta, but it has been said by Wotc that our custom monsters would be safe.

When did they say that?

If you read the EULA for the software, it says in part "Wizards does not ensure continuous, error-free...operation of the Software."

Where did they say that your custom monsters would be safe?

One Wotc_Dude at Wotc DDI forums said that. You can go there and make a quick search if you don't believe what I'm saying. IIRC was the Monster Build forum and "should be safe" were his words (also IIRC), can't access from work.

That's why some DDI subscribers complained over there.

By the way, EULA? Do you expect people to read EULAS? ;)

Well, you should. It is something that you agree to when you sign up. It is always good to know what you are saying "yes" to.

Everybody should, the point is: how many people do it? ;)

Yes, it's beta, but people asked at forums and an employee (no doubt trying to be helpful) said we'd probably be safe. I've lost a lot of work, I can live with that, but that frustrating on my part of the rope, no matter what EULA says.

For what it's worth, the october update will be making hidden backups of the data file, which will, if the MB does this again, be able to be recovered.

No it's not. That way you can always plead ignorance. ;)

I'm really surprised this wasn't done from the beginning. The custom data should be in its own area, as happens with characters created with the Character Builder. I'm sure that's a basic bit of software design.
