D&D (2024) Mortal Kombat: Monk Tier List

Legend
Traditionally the worst class in 2014 (I liked them more than the internet) the Monk has been drastically over hauled and buffed. Default array they were meh they benefitted more than most classes with higher stats if you managed to roll them. To many of the archetypes were mediocre though.

Very fun class in tbe skirmisher role right back ground you could substitute them for a Rogue gaining more combat oomph at the cost of skills. Depending on the party that may not matter to much eg bard with guidance or a cleric with the right build and background.

The 2024 one however is very melee focused. No shortbow proficiency or longbow via race. That may bite you in the ass. Throw daggers or spears I suppose. Basic idea focus points+something cool. The base monk will deal good to excellent damage depending on level relative to other strikers eg Barbarians, Fighters and Rangers (level 1-10).

The base class is tuned quite high so unless WotC drops the ball much like the Barbarian expect sone high ratings across the board.

Mercy
One of the better Monks in 2014 rules. Adds a dash of support and extra damage on the Monk chassis.

Level 3
Hand of Harm.
Focus point extra necrotic damage equal to martial arts dice plus wisdom. Kind of comparable to a level 1 smite spell but not a spell and upu get a lot of them. Downside you may be better off using flurry of blows instead espicially at low levels. Higher level use both. Decent ability that becomes better later or if you need to nova off.

Hand of Healing.
Bonus action healing poor man's healing word. Mediocre for healing but great n clutch situations. Great when needed mediocre otherwise but always nice to have as an option.

Implements of Mercy. 2 skills and a tool proficiency even curated is always nice. 3 abilities at level 3 and none of them are bad. Great start so far.

Level 6.
Hand of Harm upgraded. Poisoned condition no save. This is brutal makes your "smite" ability even better. Very good if not great.

Hand of Healing. In effect lesser restoration at a very low opportunity cost. Conditions are annoying. Very useful. Happy to have this ability on top of base class and everything else.

Level 11
Flurry of Healing and Harm. Replace both strikes with Harm or heal without using focus points. You can use it a number of times equal to your wisdom modifier per long rest. Utility or more damage for no extra cost. You are ascending to awesome sauce.

Level 17
Hand of Ultimate Mercy
Raise dead and remove conditions once per long rest. It comes late and you may not ever use it. Great of you need it otherwise useless. Mediocre overall and very late. Useful but not exciting.

Well overall the Mercy monk is great. It's almost S tier imho but all the Monks are tuned fairly high so it's an A. Everything here is great when it matters even better if there's no cleric. Get used to seeing A ratings I suspect.
